@o11c about your PR

yeah?
ref for anyone coming later: github.com/tqdm/tqdm.cpp/pull/16

oh, didn't know ~/.gitignore existed
cool. I'm gonna make that file now

btw I have to leave in about an hour

IIRC you have to use a git config --global option to enable it

8:26 PM
So, let's merge?
maybe put on dev branch instead
thx

ah, now there is $HOME/.config/git/ignore with no configuration
I've been using git for a long time so my habits aren't always uptodate
yeah, you used to have to set core.excludesFile manually

@o11c that just brings up the help page
*usage page
nvm
just learned about touch: creates a new empty file.
shorter than echo "" > filename I guess
hub apparently extends git to work with github, official github extension

9:08 PM
IMO all those helper tools are more trouble than they're worth

@o11c eh, simple install, extends git
git whatever

Note that with that PR merged, we can enable CI since we have a (dummy) make test.

@o11c Let's get that done now.

I really do need to study how coverage works for C/C++ though.

you have experience with Travis? I don't.
Should we contact @casper? he has some exp

9:15 PM
... is it really as simple as override CXX += --coverage these days?
Yeah, I know Travis
I don't have repo perms though.

@o11c you don't?
I have them - casper probably forgot to give you perms
I requested it
@o11c do you have write access, or do you not have repo perms?

I know for sure I can't close issues

@o11c welp, awkward situation then

<code>gcov find obj -name '*.o'</code> looks promising
bleh

what about coveralls?
can't add you, we'll just have to wait on them. Meanwhile, you can ask for me to merge stuff
+ tag stuff etc.
ping me please (@) when you respond, it gives me the auditory signal
also what did you mean by bouncer?
@o11c
coveralls/codecov might do the trick

9:22 PM
Bouncer is a server that keeps you connected to IRC even when you're not online.
can't tag issues either AFAICT

if you want me to tag something you can ask (or wait)
@o11c oh, thought you meant the bodyguard kind of bouncer

@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC I want to have something I can use locally (first at least - I don't mind if others use something else) - relying on a service is unnecessary complexity.

@o11c true, but GitHub integration is cool
maybe use both?

Anyway, GTG for now, gcov looks sufficient for my needs, it's just slightly useless since we don't have any actual lines of code yet.

9:27 PM
should probably add support for .sh tests btw, makes it easieser to test tqdm-cat (which I suppose should be renamed to that)

Lovin' this open source adventure so far.
@o11c yes, but no .sh extension, just a shebang line
xxx instead of xxx.sh

1 hour later…
10:42 PM
room topic changed to tqdm.cpp: Discussion on tqdm.cpp development [c++] [tqdm]
