Hi Everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right chat room to post a message.
I need some help with Oauth between Salesforce Orgs.
Here's my question.

Q: Salesforce to Salesforce Oauth Webserver flow? Is it possible?

VigneshIs it possible to integrate Salesforce to Salesforce using Oauth Webserver flow? I cannot use the standard S2S(Salesforce to Salesforce) feature due to certain limitation. I basically sync data from many Orgs to a single master data Org from where the update can be broadcasted to the connected ...

Uh, no idea man... How are you planning to use it? My understanding is that for real user actions in the browser (say this OAuth + some iframe for cross-posting) you'll have bad time because cookies will be overwritten. Especially if both orgs are on same instance (na1 etc). Maybe try returning an instance-specific return url to avoid cookie / session clashes?
But if you'd be doing it all server side (HTTP POST etc, REST API) it should all work nicely without any cookie clashes. But then you'd need to write some code in your "client" org to expose what you want as buttons, forms etc...

This is supposed to be a background sync that triggers on update asynchronously.
I'm planning to expose REST endpoints at both the communicating orgs.
But I'm just not sure of the OAuth part. Lets say we have a master and two client orgs. My packaged code should identify if its a master or client(I can achieve this using the Master Org Id hardcoded in Custom setting) and call the master only if its a client. Here I want the connection to be established to connect to master's REST end point as a master User.
Its not advisable however using the username and password flow.
I mean how do you go with the webserver flow?

Metadaddy should know, he's absolute guru of OAuth :) but he's on San Francisco timezone so it might take a while...

I know my questions are vague. Can you please elaborate a little on using a webserver flow to this scenario? I mean where the Connected App should be(I'm assuming its in the Master)
No worries! Thanks anyway!

A: Salesforce to Salesforce Oauth Webserver flow? Is it possible?

metadaddyYes - you can absolutely do this. Use the 'Salesforce' authentication provider to provide login from a 'source' org to a 'target' org, and, in the target org, you can access an access token to call APIs back in the 'source' org. This is how FinancialForce run their customer support portal. Ther...

@Vignesh Let me know in a comment there if this is what you're looking for
