hello sir..
how are you doing..
if possible, please add me to your hangouts contacts.. srinivazdsr@gmail.com

Hi:) I did. Just wrote you a message there.

my main concern is when i am doing meditation now and in future, i may get get some doubts.. so i just thought to be in touch with you...!

Thats okay. If I can help you I will try.
The book I referred you to is written by Ven. Yuttadhammo. It is easy to read and very well written.
In here Ven. Yuttadhammo explains how to practice Vipassana Meditation. It is the Burmese method that is being described in there. Thats the method I practice.
He also made a video series of How To Meditate where he also explains the technique.

ok .. i need to see that.. i have just been referring this site these days.. and started seeing some books related to mindfulness..

Ven. Yuttadhammo's booklet and video series on how to meditate (Vipassana meditation).

6:11 PM
presently i am referring this book now... so i try to finish this before seeing others .. wisdompubs.org/sites/default/files/preview/…
and may i know from how many days u r into buddhism..?

Thanks for sharing.
A little over 2 years as a Theravada Buddhist practicing in this tradition.

you are practicing in greenland itself or u went to other countries to know about buddhism..

Before that I hadnt found "my" way so I practiced all kind of meditation techniques back then for around 3 years.
After I found Buddhism my practice became much more focused.

ok..

I also did a Goenka retreat approx 1 year ago.
In Sweden.
I would recommend doing a retreat to get to know the practical part of Buddhism, especially to get well founded in Meditation practice.

6:14 PM
ok and u changed ur name also, right..!

What do you mean by changed my name?

u put ur name as sri lanka..

Ah yes. I change back and forth from Sri Lanka and Lanka.

may i know meaning of lanka..

I think its a wise choice to finish one book before reading another one.

6:16 PM
yes..
and i am also trying to understand it completley before stepping to other book..

I practice the teachings on Vipassana meditation by Ven. Mahasi Sayadaw. There are different approaches to Vipassana. You have to find the right method for you.

ok.. i heared about vipassana, transcendental etc..
pretty much dont know difrence bten them.. have to know and implement them..

Ven. Mahasi Sayadaw's technique is about noting phenomen as they occur, i.e. giving them a mental note while sending the mind out to the object. For example when a sound strikes the ear-door, one notes it as "hearing, hearing" while keeping attention on the sound.

ok..

Goenka's technique is a bit different. He uses body sweeping to become mindful of the different phenomena in the body, e.g. heat, cold, pressure etc.
Same goal of the teachings but different ways to the goal.
You have to find a technique that works for you. For me that meant trying different techniques until I found one that worked for me.

6:21 PM
will see about them, and if i get any doubts, will contact you sir..

Ok. You can use the room here. Then the chat log will be kept.

actually, i am practicing islam right now, but i am interested in gaining mindfulness and consciuosness,... and exploring different philosophies regarding that.. and thought of trying buddhism techniques once..
take care.. and bye sir..

Sounds interesting. Welcome to the site. We have many answers and questions on technique here that might benefit you. Or else you can ask and maybe I can answer.
Take care:)
