Any experts in the graphicx package who known how to extract this information the sizing information that printed in the log file?
http://tex.stackexchange.com/q/312196/15925

7:18 AM
@AndrewSwann you want the scale rather than final size?
yeh! I've got electricity this morning.

@DavidCarlisle This was lacking yesterday?

@JosephWright just between 1pm and 12.30am (with no warning:-)

@DavidCarlisle Ah
@DavidCarlisle Explains you being absent yesterday pm :-)

@JosephWright my new high speed router doesn't work too well it seems when there is a tree fallen on the power lines to the village
anyway got two full days on automatic (or if you prefer, algorithmic) differentiation....

7:38 AM
@DavidCarlisle The question asks for the scale, but having both the initial and final size would be enough to calculate that, and those are the pieces of data written to the log file.
@DavidCarlisle My guess is the poster has two images whose relative sizes need to be preserved.

@AndrewSwann graphics has already calculated the scale but in a local register not exposed so you'd need to poke in to the internals, or as you say, recalculate it, no time to answer now though

8:15 AM
authors insist that arcus cosine should be \mathit{acos}, but cosine is fine as \cos.

9:13 AM
@ChristianHupfer When you see a line of code and know trouble is in sight: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/312515

1 hour later…
10:23 AM
@yo' Ask them to justify their silliness.

yo'
@egreg well, I simply didn't do the changes as they are non-justified

@yo' Of course!

10:44 AM
@JosephWright: Hi, could you delete this answer? :) meta.tex.stackexchange.com/a/6678/3094

@PauloCereda: Could you add your donkey and the donkeyduck to my question? (I will sent you by mail the pdf I made).

@UlrikeFischer Sure! I will add both. :)

@PauloCereda Damn just saw a typo in the text -- the picture was made in 20016 ;-(

@UlrikeFischer ooh in the future. :)

A: I need a TeX-donkey

Paulo CeredaI posted the following artworks in the chatroom, and I was kindly asked to posted them here as well. I am also marking this answer as community wiki since there is no need to harvest these juicy reputation points. :) The first artwork is an attempt of reproducing the official project logo as a v...

@UlrikeFischer: ^^ done. :)

2 hours later…
1:22 PM
So there's a TB37/1 on its way? I wonder when I will finally get mine. :)

yo'
@PauloCereda I hope mine will arrive at all, with all the changes in addresses and stuff...

@yo' ooh

yo'
@PauloCereda lets trust the Czech Post... :)

@yo' And of course, their brother service, the Brazilian postal service. :)

yo'
1:41 PM
@PauloCereda well, actually I prefer it sent to the university as the post seems to be more careful about business delivery

@yo' Indeed.

yo'
@PauloCereda still, I'm missing one issue :-(

@yo' Oh no!
@RomainPicot: Coin coin!

@PauloCereda Quack !
I cannot stay hidden ^^

@RomainPicot no one can!
:D

1:46 PM
I came for a quick question about LaTeX and float environment. Is there any "source code" environment? Or if it's not how can I create one? I haven't find any useful information about it :/

@RomainPicot There is the verbatim environment, which could be used for that. :) Also, there are environments provided by listings and minted, if you need more advanced options. :) And if you need these environments in a float, there might be some settings as well.

@PauloCereda I'm tired and don't ask the real question ^^. I'm already using lstlisting for source code. What I want is a floating environment such as figure or table

@RomainPicot ooooooooooh

@PauloCereda ^^

@RomainPicot \begin{lstlisting}[float,caption={Caption},label=label]

1:55 PM
@egreg Perfect :)

@RomainPicot @DavidCarlisle will be pleased to know that I didn't look in the manual

@egreg But I should have

@DavidCarlisle: no picture mode/ASCII donkey from you? I am disappointed. :)

2:24 PM
@UlrikeFischer: I will give my bounty in 22 hours (the system tells me I have to wait), then you can add one too. :)

2:58 PM
@egreg: Dani Alves is going to Juve!?

@PauloCereda Newspapers are talking about it.

3:20 PM
Hi.

@wilx 'ello!

Good maen -- after a long day at school, with lessons, conference and Physics Lab in the afternoon, finally, TeX.SX ;-)

@ChristianHupfer 'ello!

@PauloCereda 'ell' ;-)
@PauloCereda: I'll send you the letter 'H', you're lacking it from time to time apparently ;-)

@ChristianHupfer @yo' might send us some vowels too. :)

3:27 PM
@PauloCereda No, he misses them actually. :D

@PauloCereda been in a meeting all day, speaker typing complete c++ code in real time into emacs:-)

@DavidCarlisle still time. :)

3:56 PM
@DavidCarlisle Well done!

@ChristianHupfer German efficiency:-)

@PauloCereda Mine hasn't arrived yet.

4:12 PM
@Johannes_B oh.

yo'
4:26 PM
@PauloCereda you mean consonants, right?

@yo' I was thinking of vowels. :)

4:38 PM
@PauloCereda But @yo has no vowels (to spare).

@AlanMunn :)

@Johannes_B @yo' Apparently, only Black Forestians are deemed worthy of a serious postal service.

@egreg Does this mean i have to move? :-/

@Johannes_B We should all move to Black Forest and kick @ChristianHupfer out.

@egreg :-)

4:47 PM
@egreg But he can provide cookies!

@PauloCereda Shouldn't he provide Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte?

@AlanMunn OMG YES

I've received my first TUGboat ! :)
5

@PauloCereda Or black forestrian beer

5:13 PM
@StefanKottwitz Das Bier. :)

@PauloCereda Any chance you may come to Toronto in July?
(Or in September: torontobeerweek.com ) :-)

@StefanKottwitz Nope. I need money and a visa. :(

For July I convinced my employer to cover my travel me to Toronto. For September, I'm working on it...

@StefanKottwitz So this is basically German retsina, but with fizz? :)
@StefanKottwitz I may be there.

@AlanMunn If it tastes the same to you ;-)
@AlanMunn Great! So I can improve my English, you can correct me better than a Canadian :-)

5:21 PM
@StefanKottwitz Given that I am a Canadian, probably not. :)

@AlanMunn Oh! checking profile
Ah, Michigan, just some miles away from Toronto

I hate the world treating me like a bad person. :(

@StefanKottwitz About 4 hours and a half, depending on traffic.

Geography... I puzzle the world for me from harbours and now from airports...

@StefanKottwitz On a good day I can make it to my mum's house in 4 hours.

5:26 PM
@PauloCereda It's just about contracts between countries.

@StefanKottwitz It's not. It's about making people feel bad by going through humilliating interviews and even having to pay for it. :(

@PauloCereda And if a certain person gets elected it will only get worse.

@PauloCereda Make it like we did: I'm from Eastern Germany, where we had Visa issues; then we took over Western Germany and now we are free to travel anywhere

@StefanKottwitz :)

@AlanMunn Indeed. :(

5:33 PM
@PauloCereda Let's make a TeX meeting in North Korea, I guess we will be treated all in the same way

yo'
5:44 PM
@Paulo any news about PSC?

@egreg That's the revenge for many stolen ticks ;-)

@yo' Only in June 27. :(

@StefanKottwitz Probably it's made with garlic, instead of hop.

yo'
@PauloCereda they may announce it a bit faster :)

@yo' :)

5:54 PM
@PauloCereda ???

@ChristianHupfer General woes.

@PauloCereda Weltschmerz?

6:45 PM
@AlanMunn -- oh, don't remind me, please! do you think canada will be willing to take in a few distressed souls if that happens?

@barbarabeeton If you're single, maybe: washingtonpost.com/news/soloish/wp/2016/05/11/… :)
@barbarabeeton I'm also worried about Brexit too, since I also have UK citizenship, an I don't want to stop being a European.
@barbarabeeton Here's a better link. maplematch.com

@AlanMunn -- sigh. the world is just going to hell in a handbasket. but not single, and not looking.

@barbarabeeton Sadly the same attitudes are driving the Brexit push, at least from the right.

@AlanMunn You are a quarter English, a quarter Canadian, a quarter American and a quarter Brazilian. :)

@PauloCereda Imagine the clothes from top to bottom :-o

6:59 PM
@PauloCereda :) it's not clear what the unit is here, though.

@PauloCereda so he usually wins in cricket, baseball, football, and soccer

@AlanMunn -- indeed. a while back, you said something nice about the current canadian pm. while it's not guaranteed, sometimes the "next generation" does manage to stand on their own. we were in quebec city over new year's, and visited the museum of civilization. one of the exhibits was on canadian political history. it quite surprised me to not see the name "pierre elliott trudeau" mentioned anywhere. he was a quite humane human being, and canada a most welcoming place when he was in office.

@barbarabeeton Yes, but you have to understand that the museums in Québec City are strongly separatist in their outlook (I think that museum used to be called 'Musée National), and Trudeau was a staunch anti-separatist, and the only PM to ever invoke the War Measures act in peacetime (during the 1970 October Crisis). So many in Québec have no love for him.

Nationalism? How about peopleanism and culturalism?
Not real words, but who needs them?

@barbarabeeton An interesting bit of trivia: the judge who interviewed me and granted my Canadian citizenship was the widow of Pierre Laporte, the provincial cabinet minister murdered in the FLQ attack.

7:10 PM
@Johannes_B Zalling lalling qualling @PauloCereda ;-)

@StefanKottwitz Surely this should be cricket, hockey, baseball, and soccer?

7:24 PM
@AlanMunn -- interesting indeed. gordon and i were married in late fall, 1969, and spent our honeymoon at a ski lodge north of montreal. we went back to montreal or other parts of eastern canada nearly every summer for over ten years, and though my french is pretty abysmal, i can't remember a single instance of hostility. (i've never been made to feel uncomfortable in paris either, in spite of the reputation for dislike of 'mercans.) more than i can say for some more local experiences. sigh.

@AlanMunn Sure! Hockey it is!

@AlanMunn -- too bad we can't add curling and lacrosse to this sports roundup. (as for the ncaa lacrosse tournament, brown lost to maryland in the semi-finals (in overtime), and in the finals, maryland lost to north carolina. north carolina -- where did they come from?)

@AlanMunn But I'm good at shuffleboard! :-D

3 hours later…
10:11 PM
@PauloCereda I'd hate you to be disapointed
