o/
The QA was questions.securitytube.net

izx
Awesome.
When were those made, approx?

in the last 3 or so years
The podcasts/videos are for securitytube and infosec institute
I should have a new one of ISI coming up on studying and sticking points for the CCNA

izx
They're educational, right? i.e. not a blackhat-to-blackhat convo.
And what's N for the standard "I have been coding since N years old" line? "hobbyist" sounds...very pedestrian.

right. like one was "i'm on an engagement and want to do something interesting with internet radio" -- windows playlists allow UNC names so here's a ruby-script to facilitate pass-the-hash etc

izx
Perfect.

4:54 AM
@izx for documenting/simplifying random things -- since about 16-18(14-12 yrs) actual coding last 4 years or so in various languages(not horribly pro at any of them, but functional in several)

izx
This should be a list of all of them, right? securitytube.net/tags/aking1012

that is some. the site went through an overhaul and retagged all the old videos to no tags (which i found horribly irritating)
might be more here: vimeo.com/aking1012/videos
i don't think so...it was mostly in person
i could probably get a person to say he was helping me 5 years ago or so during an IDS class
community college with no pre-reqs and the guy was completely out of his depth, but i helped some

izx
Cool. I don't think they want recs at this stage, but good to know. I'll ping in this room if/when I have more Qs.

cool.

@izx do you think a 0 to running in PPA linear document or a gi.repository port of the old pygtk demo app (the all widgets app) would be more useful seems like the latter should already exist, but it doesn't seem to

izx
@aking1012 Is this for the job app or just AU?

job app is primary target...just au is bonus

izx
You mean like a portfolio-type demo that arts ppl do? I think they'll consider overall instead of just a one-off...

True. It seems like prolific stack activity would almost count as writing documentation ;)
yes, definitely...i'm trying to think of a reference/document around that.

izx
The blog job desc you linked doesn't mention this, but is this a telecommuting job like most Canonical ones?

5:44 AM
it's tagged as home-based
ctl-F technical write

izx
Awesome. I doubt documented experience of 3 instead of 5 is going to matter then. Can you find/lnk to one or two of your oldest-ish videos on ST or Vimeo?

will do
err. i'm checking waybackmachine for the qa section. i didn't do videos older than a year on vimeo

izx
What's a good overall description of the videos you did, beyond just "security"?

i ran the gamut really. there was some exploitation stuff (rop/seh), some ruby stuff (build a binary diffing engine in ruby), my BS capstone (video quality was pretty horrible, but it was my first vimeo upload)

izx
BS capstone topic was...

5:50 AM
It integrated a bunch of linux wireless tools under a java gui. So it polled for APs, let you select from the list, automatically selected the command-sets to launch in subprocesses, and ran appropriate commands(aircrack vs freeradius etc)

izx
Cool, and the video explained how to use the tool? Or more general?

it was a presentation of the tool. it was a high-level view of what it did yes

izx
Is the tool available online somewhere?

I had loftier goals for it -- but it's not shared out there anywhere
vimeo.com/14857114 is the video

izx
k

6:29 AM
added some comments to the gdoc

izx
gotcha
