Yeah, unfortunately / doesn't work in operator mode
 
Do you know why? I tried just adding onoremap but it really didn't like.

Tbh, there's a lot of mappings I've added that only work in one mode, or sometimes two

As soon as you said that I figured it probably was
 
But there's a mapping for .\{-} so that should actually be shorter
