Hey guys - need a bit of advice pls. What's the best way to approach a UI design from the ground up? I'm currently thinking about what tasks the user wants to do and how these tasks should be prioritised and then planning to use that as a baseline for where to begin, and kind of link everything together after that... somehow. Is this an acceptable approach?
@Taimur That's a pretty broad question and the answer varies depending on the situation. For most of what I work on, I typically start by working out which tasks are the most important, and most frequent. This may take a fair bit of time to do well, as you really need to know the product and user demographics well first.
So I focus on making the most frequent actions, the shortest to complete.
However, that has to be balanced with the first user experience, and how much of a learning curve is acceptable to the users of that product.
But in general, your overall description sounds good.
