@MattRockwell I agree with you.

I created this wiki question to address it: meta.android.stackexchange.com/q/1993/68986

For any of you that might be interested GraphicDesign.StackExchange is going to start hosting a weekly design exercise. Tomorrow will be the first one. Some will be simple UX, some will be symbols, logos, compositions. Could be anything really. I'm going to pick the first week or two then I'll open it up to anyone that wants to throw out a challenge for that week.

Q: Thursday Weekly Design Challenge

RyanOn Thursdays at 15 UTC we're going to be hosting a weekly design challenge. Come in to Ink Spot A random topic will be provided for people to design on. I'll host and pick topics the first few weeks but then open it up to anyone else who wants to throw out a topic. It could be a logo, a new way...

Hope some of you might come and join us

@Ryan That's an interesting idea, and one that I think will work out nicely.
@Ryan It's not clear how you intend on running the challenge, or what the incentive for StackExchange users is. Would you mind expanding on that?

@JohnGB I'm going to run it similar to how Writers.Stackexchange does their Tuesday Writing Exercise. Basically a topic is given and people write on it for 10 minutes. In our case it'll be a bit longer roughly 20 minutes and some sort of design. The only incentive is to improve, get the creative juices going, and hopefully some new questions arise about why and how someone made certain design decisions without it being software how-to.
Eventually I might try to get something like Photography.SE has where the best piece can be displayed on our homepage. That could be related or could be a different community activity entirely though. Won't happen for a while since that requires the higher powers to grant us the ability

Thanks for the info. I'll be watching to see how it goes.
