@SwiftPushkar Yes. That was the term "Bhagavata" related to Bhagawan. But when all sects sprangs up like shaivism, saktishmetc., the term Vaishnavism came into existence. During the time of Azhwars, bhagavata is used.

Q: Are there prohibitions regarding reading or hearing Garuda Purana and if yes which Scriptures mention them?

RickrossAmong the 18 major Puranas one is called the Garuda Purana.Usually its recited during death rites . There is also a belief that it should only be recited during death rites and not in normal circumstances i.e where no death has occurred in a family. To verify the Scriptural basis of this belie...

@SwiftPushkar Now. Toddler Krishna. Naughty phase begins now. :P

@TheDestroyer - haha yes😉👍👍 , and ,i also see myself like krishna ,still in kindergarten , lot to learn still
@TheDestroyer - BTW ,What i was asking abt.Ganesha was , why the name Vinayaka is mostly used in puranas instead of Gajanana or Ganesha or any other names 😊

@SwiftPushkar Vinayaka means no other leader above him.

@SreeCharan Ok 👍

8:50 AM
@RakeshJoshi You might know about the seven untenables.

like what and why @SreeCharan

@RakeshJoshi seven untenables also called sapta anupapatti by Ramanujacharya. It is said that it is impossible to explain these flaws in the advaitan philosophy.

then why not you make such more threads...
its old tactics of sankara vedantins to trap the gullible people who are new to spiritual path.
that is why we will have to create awareness about it

Advaitans also explained these flaws but Ramanujacharya didn't find them satisfactory.

there was some option. ok let me see how it goes

Our questions per day is healthy. 5.8

5,558 users only when there are crores of Hindus in india. -_-

@SreeCharan - Yes , I haven't asked or answered from somem day's 😑
@Seeker What's in number ,5558 users are active here for cores of Hindu's , no need for core's of people actually to participate 😀

@SwiftPushkar Right ;)
Actually less than 5% are atually Hindus by mind. Among them who is indeed is not identify himself as hindu. ;)

@Seeker - See how Adi-Shankarachrya alone single Handedly faught in advocating Hinduism , Established 4 muth in 4 corners of India , that was difficult time back then 😊

9:16 AM
@SwiftPushkar he didnt fought FOR hindus but fough WITH hindus ...

on the other hand

sri Madhwa fought with buddhists

Ramanuja fought with Jains and converted back many people .

Kashmiri hindus didn't allow Adi SHankar to establish Matha there is the reason of chaos in Kashmir today. Kashmir would have been safe had they let Adi Sankara to establish Matha there.

@SwiftPushkar @Seeker it is actually otherwise, many acharyas have accused sankara of borrowing buddhist principles and preaching them under disguise of vedanta.

@Seeker For that we can't do anything , Hinduism gives everybody freedom to see ,do and think abt.various things according to path he likes , that's why we never enforced any one since past ,and don't want to push our ideas , don't tired to convert people etc.😊

Even in the worst case if I admit he was crypto Buddists, still he saved hinduism as now we can shed Mayavad now. Had he not there, we would have been complete Buddhists. no choice would have left.

Yes. 1000 jain scholars were converted back into Hinduism through debate by Ramanujacharya. This was a like a bombshell to that religion. Jainism almost disappeared from south India.

9:19 AM
Yes @SwiftPushkar correct. :)

how he saved buddhism ? in dreams ? @Seeker
hinduism *

@SreeCharan 👍👍

He saved then @RakeshJoshi

@TheDestroyer wow nice observation and data...

@Seeker how saved ?

9:26 AM
But what I mean by converting is like what other religions does today ,that conversion was actually very necessary at that time. it was tarbulant time back then(When shankara and others debated) .But when no situation arises as such we haven't tried to convert people from other religions into Hinduism ,by telling abt.Heaven etc.

by establishing faith on Vedas again.
by debating
proving it
dismissing flawed philosophies or like that

@Seeker mandana mishra was staunch vedic .. he was already following vedas. what was use of debate with him ? instead he should have shown done with non hindus

@Tezz DOes this mean snake around Ganesha belly?
17. Looking at the beautiful form of the boy and thinking
of the fickleness of women's minds Rudra got angry and cursed
him.
18. "O boy, you will attain an elephant's face, protruding
belly and yajnopavlta of serpents".

@RakeshJoshi Sir, Mandana misra was believer of duality. Even Trika system would be in conflict with Mandana misra

@RakeshJoshi Mimamsa alone can't save Hinduism... Mimamsa can't answer what is the ultimate purpose of life... so need of debate...
@TheDestroyer yes it means... Yajnopavitam means Janai or Sacred thread...

9:34 AM
@Tezz But is it worn around belly?

@TheDestroyer it might be just artistic representation...

@Tezz what is a definition of meemamsaka ?

@Tezz so, shall i answer this now?
1
Q: Snake around stomach of Lord Ganesha

GaneshLord Ganesha is always seen with a snake wrapped around his big fat belly.According to the Ganesha Purana,the serpent Vasuki is wrapped around his neck. Other depictions of snakes include use as a sacred thread.It looks that serpent is a common feature in Ganesha murthi. What is story/connection...

mimamsa cant save hinduism is ok but why to fight with fellow hindus ? was there any shortage of non hindus ?

@TheDestroyer btw Lord Shiva is also called Naaga Yajna Pavitinam...
@TheDestroyer yes.. you may answer...
@RakeshJoshi because Upanishads and Jnana part were only called Arthavãda in his era...

9:38 AM
@Tezz Ok. I will answer that later. I am answering other Ganesha question now. But i haven't seen scared thread wearing around belly. / @SreeCharan

@Tezz were called arthavada , so what ?

@RakeshJoshi if one calls Upanishads as Arthavada... knowledge of Atman-Brahman as just Arthavãda then what is the importance of such religion... Buddhists raised these points to Mimamsakas but they couldn't answer... so it was need to win Mimamsaka by Vedantis so they can be representative of Hinduism... and win over Buddhism...
@TheDestroyer it might be because snake was long and so Ganesha folded it in his belly... haha... 😀😀

if buddhists have raised these points then let vedantins directly answer to bhuddhists why there is any need to argue with hindus ?
rather than preparing ritualistic for debate why not sankara vedantins themselves directly argue with buddhists? were they feared ? @Tezz

@RakeshJoshi because Vedanta wasn't established representative of Hinduism... Mimamsakas were... so it was necessary..

9:44 AM
who established representative and why cant be vedanta be representative ? @Tezz please show some references

He was forming unity, not unity in diversity. @RakeshJoshi

@Seeker this is not uinity but deluding ardent vedics who were sincerely following ritualism ...

@RakeshJoshi time establishes representative... present time is dominated by Vedanta school... and time around Shankara was dominated by Mimamsa school...

@Tezz Does Ramayana or Mahabharata describe birth of Ganesha?

Muslims are also sincerly following their Religion or rituals. No use of sincerety if spent on flawed work.

9:46 AM
@Tezz now i have started to understrand why despite of being a complete hindu state why such condition of nepal in terms of spirituality

@RakeshJoshi further you can see how weird were the beliefs of Purva Mimamsakas... they don't even believe Gods mentioned in Vedas have real existence...
@TheDestroyer No, Ramayana and Mahabharata doesn't mention...

@RakeshJoshi You should not bring personal details into discussions.

@Tezz all are free to interpret vedas as per their ways .. who are vedantins to decide
@TheDestroyer i m talking about coutnry not a person

Nepal still is Hindu state?

@RakeshJoshi so do you have degree research about condition of sprituality in Nepal...
@RakeshJoshi so one has right to defeat in debates too...

9:49 AM
if vedantins are not representative then how did ramanuja and madhwa directly argued and defeated non hindus ? @Tezz

@Tezz I want to know story of Ganesha's birth in this Kalpa. I think i have to search Matsya and Vishnu Purana.

@RakeshJoshi Madhavas and Ramanuja are after Adi Shankara... Adi Shankara already established Vedanta as representative sector of Hinduism and it is still continuing...
@TheDestroyer Oh ok... search in them... you may find something...

@RakeshJoshi Still. If Non Hindu from other country comments on India, let's assume he says India is poor because of Idol worship or something else, how do you feel?

so before sankara there was no vedanta? it had no existence. @Tezz

i will be glad to accept that vedanta originated during sankara :)
@TheDestroyer in india also the level of spirituality and religion is declining .. its bad but truth for hindus all over

@RakeshJoshi Vedanta was just like a minor sect.. just like Mimansakas is there nowadays...

9:53 AM
then those minorities can also debate .
such logic holds no value
if you say that vedanta is one of darshana then its okay to challenge
even any hindu who dont belong to any sect can also defend hinduism

@RakeshJoshi haha lol... where is there law that Minorities can't debate?.. first read Nyaya Sutras to know what are needed for healthy debates...

your knowledge has been already seen while you said chandrashekhara did varuna yaga

wheere in reality they dont even lit up aarati .. someone else have to do for this.
My knowledge on sastra is not good as you. hence you are right candidate for Noble
:)

The author is a venerated Shankaracharya of the Sringeri Math, and many sannyasins over the centuries have followed his instructions as an authority for sannyasins. What is the scriptural source for what the Mutt says? Hearsay from a 'Mutt' is not a reference. As one who has received his sannyas in the dashanami tradition I have personally witnessed many dashanami sannyasins doing fire pujas. — Swami Vishwananda 5 hours ago
I have personally witnessed many dashanami sannyasins doing fire pujas.

go to a vedic priest and ask if anyone without sacred thread can perform or not.
vishwananda is mutt agent .. he will obviously speak in favor

@RakeshJoshi Swami Vishwananda is an ordained Dashanami Sanyasi... and if he himself says he has personally witnessed it... then there is no need for me to go and ask a vedic priest...

9:59 AM
how come sanyasins become authority for vedic rites ?
nonsense
who performs yajnas in nepal ? vedic priets or bald men with no thread or shikha ?

@RakeshJoshi have you heard Swargadwari of Nepal?...

no
the very name yajnopavita is nothing but yajna + upavita. without it no vedic ritual is possible. its uphold by everyone in india.

Let's not make personal allegations.

@SreeCharan is it allowed for vaishnava sanyasins to do fire rituals after sanyasa?

@RakeshJoshi Swami Hamsananda (a Sanyasi) did a fully Vedic Fire Yajna there and it is still running...

10:03 AM
some people eat meat also so does it make it right ?

@RakeshJoshi I don't know about it. But Vaishnava sanyasis do not remove sacred thread.

@RakeshJoshi can you give any specific scriptual prohibition for Sanyasi that they can't do Yajna..?..

We should take only debate when others talk politely. Else, we shouldn't take debates or discussions.

Q: What are the rules of philosophical debates in ancient India?

user808Indian logicians and philosophers have been involved in philosophical debates from ancient times. They have laid down rules not only the method of conducting and regulating a debate but also the eligibility of a person to enter it. What are the various types of philosophical debates accepted by...

@SreeCharan What do you think yajnopavetam of serpents? Does this mean snake around belly for Ganesha?

@TheDestroyer which another question of Ganesha are you answering?...

10:07 AM
@RakeshJoshi One can do yajnas when there is a sacred thread. So they might be doing the fire ritual. I am not sure.

@Tezz

Q: When was Lord Ganpati Discovered?

Vedant TerkarFrom what I know of... A boon bestowed upon Lord Ganpati made mandatory that first shloka(verse) of any religious book should start with shree ganeshaya namaha. But after reading mahabharta in its original form, its first verse starts with: नारायणं नमस्कृत्य नरं चैव नरॊत्तमम देवीं सरस्वती...

@Tezz the very fact that yajnopavita is needed for any vedic rituall

@RakeshJoshi self is the yajnopavitam for Sanyasis...

@Tezz @SreeCharan

while taking up sanyasa, Viraja homam is perform which is the final fire ritual for a sanyasin

after that he consideres his physical body has been burnt .

that is why he does no further fire rituals and after death also his body is NOT CREMATED BUT BURIED IN GROUND

@TheDestroyer There is a yajnpovitam of snakes. But I heard a version that when Ganesha due to over eating, his stomach broke open. Brahma used vasuki to stitch the stomach. I don't know authentic source.

10:11 AM
@RakeshJoshi body of Sanyasi is buried because he has no attachments to his body..

@SreeCharan ok. But Vasuki is with Shiva. How it can be with Ganesha at same time?

@SreeCharan haha... stiching by snakes...

@Tezz this happens when he offers his body to agni during viraja homam before taking uop sanyasa

@RakeshJoshi I know that sanyasis are cremated. Reason why Sankaracharya asked the fire from neighbour's home for the brahmamedha samskaram of his mother is a sanyasin can not create fire by himself. @Tezz

@SreeCharan and these people talk of sanyasins doing vedic yajnas .. without wife withoit thread even after sanyasa .. !!!

10:13 AM
@RakeshJoshi I think the rules of Vaishnava sanyasis are different. Many jeeyars give harathi to Lord. But the mortal remain is not burnt.

@SreeCharan i have seen them doing aarati but someone else burns the camphor and gives them
in sankara tradition t hey cant pluck flower nor wear metals

Jeeyars follow the rules by Manavala mamunigal or by Ramanujacharya.
It is different from Dashanami sampradaya.

@TheDestroyer from which scripture are you answering that question...

@Tezz First i said ganesha is eternal by citing Vedas (your answer) and then Showed he manifests differently in different kalpas by citing Shiva and varaha puranas.
But now got stuck in this Kalpa.
can i cite it to show, ganesha was born before Ramayana, as none of Matsya, Vishnu Puranas mention his birth story.

@TheDestroyer May be that will not be suffice. That was a commentary of the translator.

10:23 AM
@SreeCharan I got stuck as i want to post with Kalpa Bheda. haha. But it says Shiva's sons. It could mean Ganesha and Skanda both.

@TheDestroyer you can use the common story present in Shiva Purana as in this Kalpa also... we shouldn't need to strictly stick in Kalpa stories....

@Tezz Shiva Purana clearly mentioned story was from Sveta Kalpa not Sveta varaha Kalpa.
Cha 13 rudra Samhita Kumara Khanda

@TheDestroyer you may mention it as hint....

@TheDestroyer Rama and Lakshman are compared with gunas of Kumara. Skanda and vishakha. But Ganesha is not used.

@Tezz i can explain Mahabharata as he wrote it.
@SreeCharan Who is Vishaka?

10:27 AM
@TheDestroyer One of the qualities of Kumara. According to Maha Bharata, Kumara is said to have become four in a split-second, known as 1- Skanda, 2- Vishaakha, 3- Shaaka, 4- Naigamesha. Here the first two aspects of Kumara, namely Skanda and Vishaakha, are incorporated in simile to Rama and Lakshmana.
@TheDestroyer I don't know from where they(translators) used this.

@SreeCharan ohh ok. Thanks! :)
I think Uttara Khanda also doesn't mention any stories of Vinayaka. I know folklore of Vinayaka and Ravana.

@TheDestroyer Gokarna?

@SreeCharan yes.
@Tezz @SreeCharan Do we have stories of Parasurama and ganesha?

@TheDestroyer PadmaPurana Shiva Gita also mentions : "दक्षिणे मूषकारूढं गणेशं पर्वतोपमम।
मयूरवाहनारूढमुत्तरे षण्मुखं तथा।।"
@TheDestroyer Brahmanda Purana may mention it.. I'm not sure...

@Tezz Ok.

10:34 AM
@TheDestroyer also the Atharvasiras states " Yo vai Rudra Sa Bhagvan Yascha Vinayaka tasmai vai Namo Nama"...

@Tezz Ok. I will explain via elder brother of Skanda. haha.

@TheDestroyer - I think there is one legend associeated With Ganesha and parashurama , Bur don't know the source😊

@SwiftPushkar Ok. But preferred sources are Matsya, vishnu puranas and MhB and VR.
:P

Q: What is the story behind lord Ganesha's broken tusk?

Mr_GreenIn many idols of lord Ganesha, I saw that the left tusk is broken. Credit: http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/64.102 What is the story behind that broken tusk? Does it signify something?

@TheDestroyer

@TheDestroyer ok 📚

10:40 AM
@SreeCharan Yes. But it says Brahmanda Purana. Ok. I will add it also.

@TheDestroyer But your question count is lost.

@SreeCharan @Tezz It's difficult to get things done if we consider strict Kalpa bheda.
@SreeCharan Yeah. Let it. I thought to answer it but didn't due to laziness.

don't know how missed that answer by keshav shrinivasan and that question before😁 BTW @SreeCharan - very thanks👍👍

@TheDestroyer yes, we can't apply strict kalpa bheda.. we can just say primarily of that Kalpa....

see Mr_Green ,he has earned 13 Gold ...👏👏 @Mr_Green can I borrow some 😀🌕

11:10 AM
@TheDestroyer Nice answer...😀👍👍👍

@Tezz Thanks!

@Tezz answer edited.

@SreeCharan Ok... Thanks!...

Got it😀
@TheDestroyer - hmm , Indeed , excellent answer 👏👏🍫🍬👍👍

@SwiftPushkar Thanks! :)

11:25 AM
@Tezz - yours too , already seen that 👏👏👍👍👍

@SreeCharan It's not that Shankara couldn't lit fire so he asked for others... he just asked for help.. neighbours didn't give him and he himself produced fire from his hand...
With the idea of doing the cremation
and funeral obsequies of his mother himself, the Acharya called
upon the relatives and neighbours of the family to help him in this.
But they, in great disgust, laughed at him scornfully and questioned,
"0 Sannyasin, what competence have you to perform such rites?"
Though he begged for their co-operation on bended knees, they
not only turned a deaf ear, but refused to give even fire to cremate
the body. Extremely angry at this behaviour, the Acharya himself
made a funeral pyre at the gate of the house with some dry wood,
cremation.Then he cursed the people of the place: "May you become
incompetent to study the Vedas! May no Sannyasin visit your
home for Bhiksha! May you cremate dead bodies in your own
compounds !"
(51-53) From the time of the curse, Vedic study declined in
that place and Sannyasins never took Bhiksha in the homes of
those people. They were also obliged to follow the custom of
cremating dead bodies in their own house compounds. How can
one insulting great ones attain happiness? One should not insult

Good answer by @TheDestroyer +1

@TheDestroyer isn't this statement interesting :
"wherein, the compassionate Šiva, had himself cut off his head. "

Btw, @Seeker asking some good questions as a beginner!
QPD is about to touch 6! and %answer is reached to 75!

@Tezz Yes.
@Pandya Thanks!

11:31 AM
@Pandya ask one question and make it 6... haha...

@Tezz Haha

@Tezz Ganesh asks about Sacred thread too in his question here.

@RakeshJoshi - Questions per day

11:36 AM
thanks

@TheDestroyer yes you can answer that question too by citing that verse...

The destroyer actually sounds The Preserver/Protector/Maintainer of Hinduism.SE! Haha

@Pandya Yeah ,he is doing that work very finely ,👍👍👍👍 @TheDestroyer - for your good efforts ,for this site ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

@Pandya Lol. Tezz and Rickross answer more questions than me.

in reality no destruction only transformation

11:40 AM
@Pandya - Yours techinal / answers contribution is also very good ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍👍👍👏👏
@Seeker - I have edited tags in your question , if you type first letters from any specific word in tag field the list of avaliable tags will appear ,then select the appropriate tag from list shown , Hindu-unity tag was inappropriate 😊👍

@TheDestroyer Yes, Rickross is Smritijna and Tezz is Tejananda as we know! Haha
@SwiftPushkar what youyo mean by technical contribution?

@Pandya haha. Yeah.

@Tezz Interpreting Avyakta according to Vedanta... Maya/Prakriti?
@Seeker oh! I think there's a difference between Samkhya and Vedanta interpretation over this. Yes, you're right, it stands for Jivatma according to Vedanta (Brahma Sutra 1.4.1) and Avykta (Unmenifest) should be Maya/Prakriti/Karan-Sharir of God. Purush(Person) stands for Paramatma or Brahman. — Pandya 6 hours ago

11:56 AM
@Pandya Contribution on mets on , techinal matters like fevicon , change of room etc.

@Pandya I'm not sure what Avyakta exactly means there... I looked at Shankaras commentary but he just uses the term Avyakta...

@Pandya @Tezz This can be answered

Q: What does the Vedas and Upanishads say about Ayam and Atma?

NaveenWhat does the Vedas and Upanishads say about the nature of Ayam and Atma and how are they different from Purusha and Prakriti?

anyone one you can answer this.

Haha 'Aayam Atman Brahman"... @TheDestroyer

@Tezz Yeah.

🔙🔄🕘 🙋

12:04 PM
@Pandya you may answer that question..
At least we bring answered % 73 to 75... now we should quickly make it 77... and then 80+

@TheDestroyer Ayam is a Sanskrit word. And how can we relate Purusha and Prakriti with it?

@Pandya Yeah. We can say that in answer. That's it

@Tezz which question?

@Pandya thanks. :)
@SwiftPushkar where was that tag?😵

@Pandya I think Ayam N Atma question.

12:11 PM
@Pandya @Tezz Kashmiri Shaivism defines Isvara as Jnana aspect of ultimate reality. And some commentaries says Unmanifest as Isvara. And Isvara is in personified form is Lord Vishnu. Still researching, very subtle concept.
. Isvara, i.e. the Lord. In this both I-consciousness and world-consciousness are equally prominent, and jnana or knowledge is predominant. The consciousness of this state is 'Idam aham' - 'This is I' - -the universe is I. The uni verse has come distinctly into consciousness but still as identical with the Divine Self. This is a state of abheda i.e. non-difference between the 'I'or Self and 'this' or the universe.

@Seeker Oh I do not know about concepts of Kashmiri Shaivism... also you may self question-answer here such questions which emphasizes on Kashmiri Shaivism...
@Pandya that Aayam Atman question...

I am not confirm or confident that's why I ask. 😯

@Seeker self question answering means... asking question by oneself.. and answering it in main site...
@Seeker For eg. My this question and answer.. hinduism.stackexchange.com/questions/16594/…

Got it.

A: What's the relation between Lord Shiva and Lord Shani Dev?

TezzShani Deva is the son of Lord Shiva through his AshtaMurty forms. AshtaMurti forms are the 8 major forms of Lord Shiva which are described in this chapter of Yajurveda Shatapatha Brahmana. The eight forms described there are: Form of Fire, Form of Water, Form of Air, Form of Indra, Form of Pl...

@RakeshJoshi Muktika Upanishad is not referred by Shankara, Ramanuja, Srikantha etc.... it may not be genuine also... not sure...

so 108 upanishad also could not be genuine

@RakeshJoshi I heard Advaita Sampradaya holds 108 Upanishads as genuine.. and no official objection has been raised in Muktika Upanishad...
@RakeshJoshi in any case the principle Upanishads are 13 in no. which are quoted by Badarayana in Brahma Sutras....

@Tezz Ohh..Is the other name, name of Ganesha?
How many sons does Shiva have?

@Tezz advaita dont have problem with 108 (as google says)
then kalisantarana is also one of them
that means muktika should be created after kalisantarana

12:58 PM
@RakeshJoshi see here: advaita-vedanta.in/…

it accepts 108
but then you people wont accept if i quote kali santarana

@RakeshJoshi we can't tell which Upanishads aren't genuine... we can only tell which Upanishads are genuine...
@TheDestroyer ",. Their sons respectively were Shanaishchara, Shukra, Lohitanga, Monajaba, Skandha, Sarga, Santana, and Budha."

@Tezz All sons?

there are ways to know it ...
by comparoing the shakha, the samhita or aranyaka from where it claims to be have taken from

@TheDestroyer haha... most people don't know even these are Sons of Shiva from his AshtaMurty form...
@RakeshJoshi I have no problem with Kali Santarana Upanishad also...

1:01 PM
ahan good

@RakeshJoshi for eg. I have quoted Kali Santarana Upanishad in my answer here:

Q: What were the exact reasons of birth of all the Shivansh?

SeekerAfter going through stories of Shivansh, following patterns happened to be common in all- All were against Lord Shiva. Even they wanted to kill Mahadeva! All were against Devas despite of the fact they were born out of MahAdeva.(i.e, when actually they were Devas) All resulted into the great ch...

What I think is Lord Rudra is not supposed to be biased in any case even for Dharma. When he sometimes take side to the Dharma or for sake of any reason, he get into Karmic debt, which manifests into Shivanshas. But only personal opinion without any reference.

@Seeker Oh sorry Sir... I'll try to answer them soon😀😀

Sure sir A$Texx
@Tezz

@Seeker Yes, Shiva Purana also suggests similar things...

@SwiftPushkar previously i was getting 10 reps now i m getting 5reps what reason?

@RakeshJoshi - its because just one voter Upvoted your question or answer , the number of upvotes you will get , more the reputation you will gain :) in the green square you will find the number , for question's each upvote will give u 5 points and for answer 10

per vote its 10 or 5 ?

@RakeshJoshi - its also important for healthy site that ,users should vote frequently , so pls.also consider giving votes to other users question /answers :)

giving votes reduces reps or what ?

@RakeshJoshi No nothing like that , giving votes does not reduce your reputation :) Yes but in case of downvote u wil loose one point

4:20 PM
:)
means if i downvote i will loose 1 ?

why such

@RakeshJoshi If your questions are upvoted you get+5 rep and for answers +10 . If anyone downvotes, your Q or A , you get -2 and if you downvote answers you get -1 and no neg rep for question downvoting.
@RakeshJoshi To stop misusing downvotes

those with thousands reps wont mind 1 minus point for a downvote isnt it ?

yeah that was i abt.to say
:)

4:23 PM
@RakeshJoshi Yeah.

@RakeshJoshi haha you will come to know abt.that :)

@RakeshJoshi you will get privileges once you get sufficent reputations.

> Chhatrapati Shivaji, who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva, was born at the end of Kali Yuga. He was born around 1630 and died in 1680. 19 years after his death, Kali Yuga ended. Why did Shiva chose this time? It may be because this period marked the end of Kali Yuga.
What to say about this? ^^^

they will link with some puranic story to justify it

4:43 PM
@Tezz Yes. Shankaracharya cursed Kerala that vedic study will decline in that place. He created yogic fire. The body of his mother was placed on banana leaves. That's the reason there is no mutt in kerala.

@SreeCharan Lol, how Shivaji is incarnation of Lord Shiva. 😯

@RakeshJoshi Even puranas do not have stories like this. There may be some interpolations in Puranas. But we can't neglect all in the same way. They do not add puranic stories. They add folklores.
@Seeker Ha Ha..

some puranas or sthala purana etc
upa purana

And that beloved to us is sacrificed. If we can get a feeling of sacrificing our own son while sacrificing a goat then that is Sacrifice.
@SreeCharan 😀

@RakeshJoshi It's better to search before posting questions. Otherwise it shall be closed as duplicate.

4:51 PM
@SreeCharan why did he curse?

@RakeshJoshi BTW, New profile picture and nice picture. I am confusing between you and @Seeker

@SreeCharan @Tezz Then his curse is working. Hinduism is declining in Kerala which is land created by Parasurama and birth land of Adishankara.

hmm i think i will chamge .. yes its looking same as him

@SreeCharan Same here.

@TheDestroyer not created by parashara but by parashurama ?

4:53 PM
@RakeshJoshi You should mention names. It's confusing to whom you are saying/
@RakeshJoshi Sorry! was doing somework and wrote it. Failure of Multitasking.

@SreeCharan 😀😀
What is an avatar? Is there any rigid scriptural definition for it?

@TheDestroyer some puranic info on kerela :P that i knew

@Seeker avatar means descending. The lord descends from his higher position and comes to earth.

@Seeker Tara means crossing and ava means in downward direction. So, Avatara literally means going downwards or crossing downwards.
