Hello, any ideas for this :

Q: What are the ignored codepoints in filenames on Darwin?

user2284570I just remember about 0x200c. But generally, what is the rule for telling what characters are stripped? In the same way, how invalid Unicode sequences are handled? I mean if I ask mkdir to create a folder name with an invalid Unicode sequence will that sequence be stripped or turned into a ?. I...

By the way, with the last edit, I think it is clear and worth reopening.

@user2284570 I'd still disagree with reopening that question with the cross-post still open on Super User. Apart from that, there doesn't appear to be any attempt to answer any of patrix's concerns with the question which is why it was put on hold. Here's the review for the question in the re-open queue.

@grgarside : the question is simple what are the other characters that are stripped by Darwin like 0x200c
0x200c=ZERO WIDTH NON-JOINER
and does this same rule applies to invalid Utf‑8 sequences  or do such sequences are converted a question mark ?
@grgarside : what isn’t clear ?
