@Undo yes. Usually at a rate less than the LED pulses when it sleeps.

@bmike as in for cooling :P
I.e. is it safe to have the keyboard flat up against a hard surface?

Sure. The system will throttle the CPU and blast the blowers as things heat up.

kk

You'll run cooler with the lid open, but the keyboard leaves more air gap than if you were to place the bottom on a comforter. That really causes the case to lose thermal efficiency in radiating heat out.
There's several questions on this - look for and closed clamshell mode

in care you're wondering, I figured out that the screen will fit perfectly in the gap between a shelf and the back of my desk:

5:16 PM
We've done that with Macs and iMacs many a time. Cool layout you have there.
Some iMacs had their foot reversed so that the ports would be in the correct places for the users.
If it gets too hot, you can build hooks to hold it to the bottom of the shelf and regain the screen bezel by the hinge.

Hm, good idea
Somehow it's running cooler like this than before
well it was sleeping, so 90 degrees F right now

Like I said - keeping the BOTTOM free is the major way heat gets out for low blower speeds.

Awesome

You'll want to be sure the vents are open in the back for if/when the blowers are needed. Cheers and enjoy!

I guess I can just crank them all the way up and see if it sounds weird, right?

5:21 PM
No - just that if they are needed, you want the air to not be constricted. You should be able to just use your eyes to see that the air gap isn't totally sealed.
i.e. don't place a paper folder on the top of the bottom case, etc...

yep, there's plenty of room around the hinge
Main problem is trying to use the keyboard upside-down when Teleport stops working
