I heard that Mountain Lion will add the notes application. Does that mean that Apple ise going to get rid of the stickies app?

12:29 PM
I hope not!
I actually use Stickies a fair bit. But the two seem complementary, not substitutes. I'd use them for different things.
If they eliminate Stickies, I'd have to go back to putting Post-it® notes on my screen.
:-)

@DanielLawson Yeah, I really need to be able to see different stickies at the same time.

@gentmatt Do you both use the Shift-Command-Y shortcut to make a note from whatever text is currently selected?

No.
But that's pretty cool. Thanks!

That's one that a lot of people don't know - so I figured I'd throw it out there in case.
I've moved away from stickies, but they were very powerful in my last job for storing a ton of information for rapid retrieval.

I shall assign a gesture to this mighty shortcut right now in BetterTouchTool.

1:20 PM
@DanielLawson I've seem people use both!

1:34 PM
@bmike All the time
In fact, sometimes I do that just to launch the stickies app (then delete the resulting note)

@DanielLawson awesome - hotkey muscle memory - I bet you don't even have to think about deleting the null note.

right. ⌘⇧Y, then ⌘W, then ⌘D... without thinking. Three key combinations, but it's a reflex.

@DanielLawson Way late, the start of EP2 of TS3 was embarrassing, joking about getting Paul Thurrot on as co-host etc, made me cringe, was schoolboy levels of immaturity

A: How to place Dictionary definitions higher up in spotlight results

ZHENJiNG LiANGFinally, I found a hack! I wrote a blog post about this which you can find here (in Chinese). These are the key steps: Open the file with Xcode: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.spotlight.plist Within the orderedItems node, add a Dictionary item as follows: Save the .plist file. Open System...

Anyone know if it's possible to get iTunes to list two albums of the same name separately?
I figured this is what the 'Grouping' section was for, but I can't get it to separate tracks.

@JasonSalaz Put some invisible characters at the end of one of the album's name?
(I'm not very good with iTunes)

I dislike hacky solutions, but I'll keep that in mind.

I generally sort by "date added", which solves that problem and introduces others.

Isn't that an eMac?

@JasonSalaz eMacs were opaque white, afaik. I think that's just an iMac.

huh
well never mind then

First generation iMac. G3 chip; eMac had a G4.
