Is it just me or is calling Raspbian Pixel just because of an icon change dumb. I mean I am sure they got their reasons and they can call it whatever they want but its still running LXDE like always and besides who calls an OS by the DE it has?

Ive been meaning to see what other people thought about that for a while so just figured id ask:-)

@goldilocks I think it is almost 4yrs

visited 1677 days, 1003 consecutive I have missed only about 15d ays since the site launched in private beta (10 of those were when we had no power)

@NULL Pixel's a fork of LXDE, which is a pretty common FOSS practice. If it weren't for the opportunity to do that, a lot of widely used existing software wouldn't exist. Which is a strong argument against the idea that certain kinds of intellectual property laws "foster" research and development -- and an argument for the idea that they instead stiffle it (making it very ironic that the Foundation's blog announcement launching Pixel lauds praise on people like Steve Jobs, but

nary a word for the creators of LXDE, linux, GNU, etc).

Anyway, I think there's more to it than the logo change. And Simon what's-his-face is sort of jerk in my opinion.
