$$\Delta d=\sqrt{y^2+(x+D/2)^2}-\sqrt{y^2+(x-D/2)^2}$$
After which it says

Also the tag-excerpt for roots contains the recommendation: For questions about "square roots", "cube roots", and such, consider using the (arithmetic) tag.
But it is not clear whether this is only about addition, subtraction, radicals of numbers or also of algebraic expression.
If the latter is the case (which is how I have been using this tag), then the questions was correctly tagged arithmetic, but later a different user removed that tag.
