@Fredy31 what happened to
2 days ago, by Batophobia
From what I've heard, all the micro-transactions are obtainable fairly easy in-game, including editing your character
Let me guess... you can "easily" get the item "for free" but it is a single use item right?

@Fredy31 Good grief. I just read about the Dragonplague.
Forget the micro-transactions. This is a whole new level of idiocy.
This seems a feature from some random creepypasta.
> Dragon's Dogma Dragonplague mechanic

jesus fuck, I just looked it up
It's like they deliberately made a game mechanic to screw people over

> This is based on what I saw on reddit. I don't own the game, there might be errors. Basically... do you know Pokerush in Pokemon games? Well, there is a Pokerush in Dragon Dogma too. Your pawn can get it from fighting Dragons apparently.
After they get it their performances are boosted. Sound good?
Well, they will start giving random not-so-easy to notice signs like glowing eyes (see those if you wear any form of helm), "my head hurts like Cloud" idle animations, randomly telling you to "go [redact] yourself" when you give a command and so on.
> At the final stage if you sleep at any inn.... they will overnight kill half the city INCLUDING VENDORS AND QUEST CHARACTERS and the game will autosave afterward (remember, you have only one save slot because reasons)

now, apparently vendor will come back after a while (about a week, have fun wasting time in game) but some say quest givers will now. But don't worry! You can use wakestones to resurrect them! Not enough spares? Our microtransaction can give you gems to buy them!!!
Want to prevent it ? Just kill your pawns before resting by throwing them down a cliff. When you summon your main pawn from the rift they will be cured! Isn't that great? Having companion that you must kill as a feature of the game? And just don't use the online pawn share because you can't know if some bastard is sharing infected pawns! Again, it is always great to not play a feature because it can ruin your gameplay!
Alternatively, just rest in camps and never rest in the city. You can buy more camps from our real money store if the few drops aren't enough. Also remember that since we are really some trash company the camp rest doesn't count as an "inn rest" and therefore "load save from the last inn" will put you back hours in the game.
@Nzall the few survivors in the city after the plague should all look at the sky and keep repeating "watch the star"
Oh, and don't worry. We also sell items to change your pawn eye color if by chance you gave them red eyes.
> You were hit by the plague and an important key quest npc died? Your only save slot is now bricked 50+ hours in the game and you don't have a backup since we conveniently limited you to just one slot? Don't worry! You can pay us and bring back the dead NPC you need to continue playing, one at a time, for the low price of 0.99$/NPC
.... the pawn system in Dragon Dogma always intrigued me since it looked similar to SAO Arfasys. I was thinking of giving the new game a try. Now I think I will stay clear.

11:17 AM
@SPArcheon correction: that's 5 stones for 1 USD

@Nzall you sure?

@SPArcheon that's what Windows Central told me
oh no, apparently you can only buy 5 stones for 1 EUR each
I misread the artcle

@Nzall "Boss, I can't figure how to make a repeatable DCL on steam, battlepass style." "Just make 5 copies that you can buy once instead"
Game calling you out on this adds insult to the injury. Imagine getting this because a pawn you hired from another players had it in its terminal stage.
This feature will go down as the most idiotic feature in a game in the last 20 years at least.
...
Unless fate don't surprise us with a Uno Reverse Card and in a week we get some news like "BTW, Dragonplague triggers when the game detect it has been hacked"

11:51 AM
It gets "better".
@Nzall the article you posted suggest that you should kill your main pawn (the one that the game plot tells you is "bonded" to your main character) if you suspect they have got infected, then summon them again from the rift (they are cured when summoned).
Wonder what? The game has also a system that gives PERMANENT visual scars to pawn when they die and those can't be removed even with the paid "character customization" item.
.... Either there is a cure somehow that players didn't find yet and you are supposed to live outside the city while playing some sort of "secret" quest to find it or this is well past malicious development at this point.
And even if there IS a cure (the game tutorial says there isn't) this basically punish you for playing the game blind.
> Whenever your Pawn dies — fully dies and needs to be brought back by a Riftstone, not just falls unconscious and needs to be revived — they gain scars. Unfortunately, these scars can’t be removed. I went to Clovis’s Barberie, chose to change Markings, and the scars from my Pawn’s adventures can’t be removed.
So, the cure to Dragonplague is to get permanent scars on your main pawn, the one you designed at the start of the game as your companion.
congrat, Capcom, you may have topped "we wanted you to like Aerith just to laugh more at the end of disk one" in my personal list of mean mechanics.

12:32 PM
yeh i read that. really go fuck yourselves CAPCOM
my Pawn in the first game, Iris, was my trusted companion. why the hell would i want to kill my companion in the second game
i'd rather do a quest that takes me to the ends of the earth to cure them
speculation that "patient zero" was the first person who completed the game and didn't change pawns when starting New Game Plus. but i wouldn't be surprised in CAPCOM put a bunch if infected Pawns into the Rift

12:48 PM
@Memor-X Players who only play offline got it, so you can get it from playing the game, probably from fighting dragons.
People think it may be related to a specific attack that has the dragon grab a pawn and bite them.
Alas, a single player on reddit states that quest NPC respaw if killed by the plague even after about a week.
Not everyone is trusting them because this goes against the devs claiming that in this game "quest characters die permanently"
alas, either way, it is pretty bad immersion wise if you build a game with a companion system, make it so you design the character and name them so that you are attached emotively to them... and then force a mechanic on you that have you constantly either kill them and give them scars to cure them or never rest in a city to avoid the plague triggering
I keep returning to Fatal Bullet, but imagine the game if Rei could be infected by viruses that would kill everyone in the city and the only way to cure her was go on a quest and kill her.
So much for your "bond"
@Memor-X There MAY be some hope for that still. The first patch for the game mentions "giving access to the quest that awards a house earlier in the game" or something along those lines.
If the intended "gameplay" of getting the plague was to get infected -> live out of the city to prevent the plague from triggering -> (finding a missing step that no one found yet to "cure" your main pawn and make them permanently immune) this could explain the change. You want to give players an easy way to live outside the city for as long as it takes to get the cure.

1:08 PM
@SPArcheon until someone mods all of the microtransactions out

@Fredy31 AFAIK they already did, but they're being bullied by the anticheat
Which already is a fuck and a half that a singleplayer game even HAS anticheat...

1 hour later…
2:11 PM
@Nzall Anticheat = "you must buy the cheats from us"
@Fredy31 also, consoles exist.

2:32 PM
@Nzall Anticheat or anticrack?

@Fredy31 it was called "anti-tamper"

Ah yeah kinda makes sense but still

There's also a limit of 5 installations per account per day

when you said Anticheat I really tought it was the kind that stops cheater in multiplayer games
but yeah for sure they fucking put something to stop modders giving you those items for free

Which sounds like enough until you realize that every time you swap Proton compatibility layers on your Steam Deck counts as an installation

2:34 PM
kinda love that they are getting all the shit in the world for that
like ffs its a single player game, how about you dont try to nickle and dime my ass every turn
But yeah I feel like its even more evident now than before, indies show that hey if you make a great game to start with its gonna go way better

Also, Gamers Nexus wanted to benchmark it because it's horribly CPU bottlenecked even at 4K, but they ran into issues with that activation limit, so they bought 4 different copies, but turns out that you then can't transfer savedgames between Steam profiles, so they ended up paying their staff to speedrun the game half a dozen times until a moment they can benchmark properly

but seeing how WB wants to keep doing live service after they got this exact lesson (live service game failed hard, the normal game got good sales) i guess the profits are better when you cash into the whales

@Fredy31 well, to be fair I am kinda partial to hating Capcom :P
Have my reasons....

I fucking hate this current thing in the industry. We make a shit game for 99% of people but we put in something that someone can throw in 20k if they want
Ultimate team really fucked the industry hunh

"We are cancelling the game because it got not enough support"

Q: Effective vs Super Effective move (Pokemon gen 8)

limaospreyIn Pokemon Sword, when you use a move sometimes it tells you under the move is "effective" or "super effective" under the move: Super effective I know doubles damage for every type that it's super effective against (4x if super effective on a dual Pokemon). However, regular effective doesn't act...

Train Simulator 2020 $10,373 worth of DLC ?????
read that again.
10 THOUSAND worth of additional train models DLC
and if you want to argue "you are supposed to just buy your favorite" (reminder: this is a game only a train fan will buy, so probably every train is their favorite)...
just let me again call the forbidden name of that "game" : DOAX

4:03 PM
@SPArcheon Train fans definitely have favorite trains
Not all of them

@SaintWacko Thomas does not count.
