Because the lines are already at 0.16 opacity, so reducing that would cause them to become transparent :P

I could also use the wiki's definition of antagonists, but that would color about 20% of the lines black

There's actually quite a bit of control over the antagonist tag. For instance, Baconhair is only tagged as that for the first movie

Also, I don't know how often italic text appears there, but it's styled oddly or something. If you look at Rainbow's last line in Daring Don't, the italic and non-italic text is mushed together

But I don't see that issue elsewhere, so it might be a data problem

But, it also happens with Twilight's letter in Feeling Pinkie Keen

The error is in the data, but I need to check at which stage was it introduced

I just threw up a hack to always add some whitespace around those for now. That works because HTML collapses whitespaces by default

Maybe you're treating the italics delimiters as whitespace and collapsing other whitespace into it. Or something

I elected to parse away the i tags in the transcript with BS

That stripped out the surrounding whitespace somehow

I like that library. It's what I've used whenever I wanted to do web scraping

I think it's partly about the purpose of those libraries

BeautifulSoup is about parsing and editing an HTML document, while jQuery is about manipulating a live DOM tree, with all of the native JS support that gets

jQuery has the advantage of starting with a pre-parsed, pre-rendered DOM

Yeah, but BS doesn't do parsing either. It relies on an external HTML parser for that and just interfaces with it

It's more like BS is taking the place of that DOM stuff

Not sure how legal the files themselves are, but it should be legal to install and activate
