I think the reasoning behind inhibiting it is kind of flawed, we all were chosen because we understand how the system works. We wouldn't even consider abusing our powers on sites where we don't know the community well enough
Don't interpret this as being melodramatic or anything: I'm fine because I stand by every decision I make. But I'm without a doubt the least popular of the 3 pro tems, by virtue of actually doing things people will complain about.
@badp The most visibly aggravating stuff. Oak actually outdoes me, you have no idea how much junk and spam he is responsible for deleting nearly every day.
It's mostly closings. It's not actually a big amount of anything, but I'm only the least popular in comparison to Juan and Oak, consider it that way. It's not saying that I'm "unpopular".
But comments on the nominations phase is the perfect opportunity for people to air out any concerns they had about any of the controversial or questionable actions that the pro tems may have done during their terms.

Some upgrade paths transform a unit from a ranged one to a melee one - for example, a crossbowman normally upgrades to a rifleman. However, ranged units get different damage-increasing promotions from melee units.

@ArdaXi Focus of the website is getting answers. We don't want people just willy-nilly running around just posting comments, because they're secondary for existence. For every comment that we get which is useful for clarification or solution, we get 3+ that are just off-hand remarks or otherwise unnecessary content.
That's why comments require reputation. If you want to shoot the breeze, show that you want to be part of the community by contributing real content first.

The other point of interest is that we can track answers easily.
Junk answers bump things to the front page, we have like a half dozen utilities in the 10k tools for detecting junk answers, and it's easy to flag and find junk answers for deletion
