For the record, sock puppet suspensions are almost exclusively the domain of the Community Team to enforce.
Usually in concert with moderators. But there's been a bit of abuse in the past relating to false positives with sock puppets, so...

@Himarm I dare say you aren't the only candidate who has made an enemy, don't let it get to you.

Exactly. See it as a test for your considerateness. Now you can proof that you actually can handle well-reasoned criticism without taking it personal.

Yup. All you can do to respond to that kind of criticism is to just not do the things they say they are worried about you doing.

I restraind myself from calling him a scruffy nerfherder

...until just now.

@Himarm Yeah, those are indeed the responses you spare for the secret moderator chatroom.

5:15 PM
I feel like this secret mod chatroom is full of debauchery

@Himarm I'm not your enemy nor do I have it out for you. I have a concern, which I noted. Frankly I was surprised you were bucking for Mod so quickly. I fully admit that I might be wrong, and you might be the best candidate. I don't plan on saying anything else about the issue.
@NapoleonWilson Indeed. And there might have been some of those messages about me in the Movies mod room and quite possibly others. I know we've butted heads a time or two but I think we're ok now.

@Erik Haha, no, I can assure you that's actually not the case. You gave some criticism now and then, but it has always been constructive and reasonable. ;-) (I don't even think we actually butted heads ever, rather than just misunderstanding each other.)

@NapoleonWilson I agree that misunderstandings is a better word, and I think they were mostly my misunderstandings
@MikeEdenfield Based on the various meta discussions that I've read I don't think you deserve the harsh criticism that user is giving you.

5:32 PM
@Erik I'm not ignoring you, btw, there's just nothing else to say there.

@MikeEdenfield I get that I didn't expect a response

How much moderation can be done on mobile?

10 messages deleted
Hope you don't mind me tidying up.

user132126
/thumbs up

@CreationEdge I can't speak to the SE app, since I don't use it. I use my phone's web browser regularly, but it's set to use the desktop SE site.
That way I technically can do anything, but it's a pain to do a great deal of the stuff there simply due to small touch targets.
The mobile SE sites lack some of the moderator features that the desktop site has.
Moderating posts on mobile is fine. Moderating comments is a pain due to tiny touch targets. Moderating chat on mobile is nigh impossible due to its realtime nature, and tiny touch targets that are buried in menus.

Makes sense.

from what I remember, chat on the Android mobile app isn't even part of the app, it just launches Chrome

@CreationEdge Saw this on MSE the other day

Q: Do moderator flags exist as mobile app notifications?

DVKIs there any provision to allow the site moderation - more specifically, flags raised - to be available on a mobile app as notification alerts, a la normal Inbox notifications? Or does a moderator need to have a web browser tab open all the time and manually scan for flags once in a while? This...

So, not much

user132126
Wow, lame.

user132126
I get it, but I'd think it'd be nice to see if you had a sudden influx of flags are were like, "I'm not busy right now, I can go handle this."

Probably just not a priority

Except 'sudden influx of flags' is a really rare occurrence.

I mean, how many mods are there network wide?
200?

8:44 PM
Like 5? maybe 6.

483, according to Jon's blog post
Compared to how many thousands of regular users

@JasonBaker Good catch. I was trying to see if I could determine it from the mod-only chat room, but no luck there.
Although it looks like over time, there have been over 680 people who are/were mods.

That's a lot of mods

I'm kinda amazed that SO gets away with < 20 moderators.

8:51 PM
$('.mods-item').size()
476 network-wide?

Differences in total numbers are probably due to double (or not-double) counting people who are mods on multiple sites.

@Keen Yeah, the about page is one line per user. So there are 476 moderators, 483 moderator positions

9:49 PM
man, i have way too many Chrome tabs open that start with "2016"

10:40 PM
