I prefer coffee, thanks

Hi @BobCross, you already awake?

Of course! It's 0830 in London!

7:42 AM
You come around like counterfeit money

Only for a bit. Then I will be back in longitudes with two digits.

@NickC And beer I suppose?

@Myself Of course! Ale, not Lager...

12:00 PM
@NickC Is the brand important?

@Myself Not really, though some have pretty poor reputations - generally the smaller breweries tend to be better than the big multinationals.
I'm a Cider drinker personally, and it's certainly the case there - the big mass-produced ones can be awful, and some of the best come from tiny companies that only make a handful of barrels a year...

Q: Crank vs turn over vs start vs whatever

Jason CI see conversations like the following a lot: A: My car won't start. B: Does it crank? A: Yes but it won't turn over. B: Wait, I'm confused. So, it tries? A: Well it makes a sound. B: Like whir whir whir or just the clicks? A: Yes. B: AHHHHHHH! What terms and phrases are gen...

I like this question, but maybe it should be meta instead? What do ya'll think?

@Zshoulders I think we need some kind of 'FAQ' type page, so that people can be pointed to such questions to help them get the right terminology when they ask...

3:40 PM
@NickC I'm torn on the idea. We definitly have too many vague, few details, borderline unanswerable questions. An FAQ or improved "how to ask questions" page would be awesome in theory, but it seems to me that people who come in and go "MY CAR DAESNT STARTWHAT COOD B WR4NG ITS A RED ONE" aren't going to be swayed.

@Zshoulders It's like with all such things though - There are some that are beyond help, but for others, they may know exactly what they want to ask, but don't know the right words to use. It's always the case that 'You can only help those who want to be helped'

I like this idea. Perhaps some dudes will misuse this as a way to scream "RTFM Noob!" but I guess that can be corrected

4:08 PM
"internal exception at XXX" in the database server just when I wanted to go home. Ahh good times
