@SteveRacer - You completely agreed with exactly what I've been trying to tell you with the last part of your statement here: "The idea is that the clamping force is sufficient to overcome any "shear" created by the wheel moving in relation to the interface surface." No clue why you haven't agreed to this to this point, but now you are arguing my point for me.
It is the interface which provides the connection of the two. If you interfere with that connection, by say ... putting some kind of lubricant in between the to faces, a lubricant which doesn't squeeze out or compress, you can interfere with the connection. Without the connection, you run the risk of sheering your lugs.
I'm glad you've finally agreed with me. :o)

As I'm not a structural engineer, I'm reading @SteveRacer's points with interest (when they don't go all trucker nuts...). I'm pretty sure that he is not agreeing with @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 though.

@DᴀʀᴛʜVᴀᴅᴇʀ in writing my spec, I established that my solution won't work. I was depending on the bird party library to provide functionality that they just don't have.
Fallback position: write a terrible gross hacky exporter for my data as an immediate work-around

@BobCross - Oh, I'll guarantee he's not ... I'm just egging him on a little bit.

@Paulster2 I can't think of a part on a car that moves at 30,000 RPM

@Zshoulders - HAH! Neither can I, lol.
That's why I was suggesting the lower RPM range in the comment.

3 and 4K rpm in 6th at 60MPH for a new-ish V8 seems high, thats why I was thinking he was really talking about the ratio and not just missrepresenting 3000 RPM

@Zshoulders - I was thinking it was a bit high as well.
Something I was thinking and asked about the modules is, if there was a new computer put into the car with updated software, it could affect how the transmission operates.
If the tranny was slipping before the "surgery" it could have fixed a slipping issue, and now locks up better, or is behaving better. Something ... only thing I've got right now.
@Zshoulders - And now, through the comments, is completely giving different symptoms ... argh.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 indeed. that ratio thing really didn't work out the way I was expecting
and I have a degree in math

Not at all, lol!
Although, the new numbers he's giving sounds a lot closer to what I'd expect the engine speed to be at that speed.
If the difference is actually between 1500 to 1800, it sounds like the torque converter isn't locking up.
Which could be an issue with the programming in the CEM.

the question I can't figure out is what all does a volvo CEM control? I wish there was a more uniform naming convention with EM's across manufacturers

@Zshoulders - I'm assuming it controls the tranny as well as the engine. Especially since the OP stated "and other modules" ... I'm wondering if something wasn't programmed correctly.
