@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 You might find the UT210E clamp meter useful. The clamp can read both AC and DC amps, and it has a non contact voltage detector. You can pick it up for about $35 at amazon. here's a review of it: eevblog.com/forum/testgear/a-look-at-the-uni-t-ut210e
I've got one and it was super helpful diagnosing alternator problems. You could just put the clamp around the wire going to the COP and you'll see right away if power is going to it I think.
