@BobCross I didn't know that - you learn something new every day... But then a car modern enough to have such things probably also has some kind of automatic hill-start control?
@TheOne I believe that in some jurisdictions that is illegal, as they consider it to not be in full control of the vehicle. By downshifting as you go, you're always in the right gear for the speed you are currently doing, so you can quickly apply power again if you need to (e.g. the red light you're approaching goes green before you stop)

@NickC Yes
Hill Start Assist helps you achieve a smooth launch on an incline by allowing you time to transition from brake to throttle, briefly holding brake pressure upon release of the brake pedal. It is included on manual transmission-equipped Challenger models.
If you need hill start assist on a Challenger you shouldn't be allowed to drive it. :)
Not a Dodge fan, but that's a hott car

Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repairmechanics.stackexchange.com

Beta Q&A site for mechanics and DIY enthusiast owners of cars, trucks, and motorcycles

Currently in public beta.

Folks, looks like we're healthy-ish in Area 51... what will it take to move out of Beta?
Low-hanging fruit... we're currently at 88% of all questions answered. Area 51 metrics deem 90% to be healthy. The total number of questions on the site so far is 4,600+, so 2% is just shy of 100 questions. As it stands, there are 500 unanswered questions. We should easily be able to bump this stat up!
I am *not* condoning/sanctioning/recommending that we write responses that don't answer the question, but let's see what we can do here.
I can see several 'unanswered' questions that have decent responses which lack upvotes. These should be the first port of call.

@Movemorecommentslinktotop Normally, I would poo poo the attitude of "if you can't get up a hill without stalling, this isn't for you." In this case, I think I have to support it. If you're having trouble driving a car with a super high power to weight ratio, it really isn't for you.
