@MattChan Can we get your input on the Sports Meta question above? Your position four years ago was that defining recreational/competitive would cause a redefinition of scope here. Considering we're four years removed from that, I assume things have settled.

@ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴅ_ᴇᴅ Wait, so what about that question? It sounds entirely on topic for your site.

oh i see

Sports is about competitive sports

@ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴅ_ᴇᴅ So how do you determine competitive versus casual? I don't understand that distinction on your site. That person's question is very loosely related but I agree there is no indication that the person is asking within the context of competitive sports.

@MattChan You're right, I did. That's wild that he has it as part of his course! I'd be interested to hear more about his discussion of the topic.
I appreciate the heads-up, it's cool to hear where it's reaching.

@MattChan That's exactly it. If there is no indication that the person is asking within the context of competitive sports, then we're calling it off topic (not sure I agree with that, but that's ultimately not my call).

@MattChan competitive is anything that is geared toward competition; casual is an "activity" that could be of interest to both competitive and casual participants...meaning it's "general," if that makes any sense. I feel training for competition is on topic on Sports SE, but without any indication, we cant determine that.
