9:45 AM
I'm having less and less hope in winning in the election. But it doesn't matter; as long as one of the candidates I have in mind doesn't get elected.

Get enough rep and you'll be able to serve just as effectively

meh?

It doesn't need a mod to write a good meta post, which is what I'm most inclined to do.

exactly

9:55 AM
The only thing that bugs me is that one of the candidates is a high-rep user who hasn't helped in moderating the site as much as he should have.
I believe he doesn't deserve a mod position.

well, it will be what it will be

Yeah, the only thing that bugs me is that their high rep gives them a high candidate score.
Whatever.

4 hours later…
oh .. :D
too late
some things have to be said

2:31 PM
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M do you see what I did?
<-----------------

3:00 PM
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M where do I find those script things for the welcome-message stuff again?

@pH13 StackApps.

hi all

Hi @Todd!

what up @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M
hey @pH13
school start for you guys?

@ToddMinehardt Dealing with trolls on ELL.
@ToddMinehardt A month later.

3:04 PM
yikes @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M

@ToddMinehardt hiho

hey hey

@pH13 Now you're name is scientifically German.

I wanted to give you at least a little satisfaction ... but that's all for now ;D
how is this script thing called? there are so many on stackapps
oh ... think I got it
AutoReviewComments ?

3:25 PM
@ToddMinehardt do you think fafroom could be parallelized?

@pH13 - don't know offhand - probably, though, most things can be to some extent. i suppose it depends on whether the algorithms being used parallelize well
if it is embarrassingly parallel, no problem

it's the latter

probably a bunch of other optimizations you can make if you profile the code
before getting into parallelizing it

I tried it a little according to what pylint mentioned but she was not so happy about that ;D

nobody likes to hear that their code sucks :)

3:46 PM
@ToddMinehardt is there sth that measures the time which every function in python needs?

yeah, several - try line_profiler by Robert Kern
i worked with that guy briefly, he's a genius

Ahh Periodic Table.
Just like a little village, separate from the drama that goes on elsewhere.

:)

@pH13 - the more traditional one is just profile (docs.python.org/2/library/profile.html)

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M you chose that drama

3:50 PM
yeah, we're like switzerland - nice and easy :)

The summary is, a troll has been making 10 accounts since yesterday with usernames that insult the candidates asking seemingly innocent questions.
Then there's ELL's #electionhype.

a lot going on

Yes, and meanwhile one of the election candidates isn't worth a mod position.

the "-2"-guy?

bon
4:35 PM
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M This guy is just restating information in the question with slightly different numbers so surely that counts as NAA. chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/6923/…

@bon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Flag. I'm deleting my comment.

4:56 PM
@pH13 tell me if you need help with autoreviewcomments.

5:18 PM
– =͟͟͞͞ =͟͟͞͞ ヘ( ´Д`)ノ

I found it and installed it (changed the browser)
now I need to think of good texts ^^
and are there shortcut-links like [tour] ?

Yes.
[tour] [help] [anSEsite.SE] Meta Stack Exchange etc.
You can make your own comments.

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M tell me more, tell me more, nananananannaaa

Take a look at my comment in the sandbox.

as you command, master

5:24 PM
You can also link to metas. and chat. [chat] [meta.chemistry.SE] [chat] Chemistry Meta
As you see, not all of them work in chat though.
There's also [tag:blahblahblah] [meta-tag:blahblahblah]

is it possible to link to homework policy and fancy formatting stuff with those shortcuts?

Q: New tags for "classical mechanics" and molecular mechanics"?

AngusTheManI am wondering the general opinion on creating new tags to address classical methods in chemistry. I feel this would be quite a specific tag genre, but I have gone to search specifically for this several times and I can see plenty of posts that may benefit from this. At the moment I haven't found...

7:07 PM
\o @San the scientist.

hail

7:24 PM
hail @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M the overlord!

How you be @san?
I had not ask you to help me. So I don't care of what you will do or not for me. Well nevermind, you do what you think is good, Richard Feynman always said "You don't need to care about other think". So go on man, you do what you want, you're as free as me maybe more haha ;) — Shadock 4 mins ago
You can't keep drama off anywhere. Sheesh.

very very tired

@santiago Isn't it morning there?

yup

Oh, you're tired of sleeping?

7:28 PM
just in pain
Be nice - Richard Feynman would have also been obliged to follow that major rule of Stack Exchange, @Shadock — santiago 20 secs ago

@santiago (⋈◍>◡<◍)。✧♡

what is that?

It's another way of saying "Love you!"

aaaah!
awww
and holy crap, that was a fast close chemistry.stackexchange.com/q/35803/15489

I might even love you more than @Martin. O.o

7:35 PM
naaaah

@santiago We're improving.
I demand a meta dv whine NOW. Oh hullo @Mith

walking away from the Shadock comments, he seems keen on an argument, and I am not interested

hello

We both should.
OH THE HORROR - My close vote reviews are passing my first post reviews.
I mean the number.

lol
just 1 more upvote on my book question...lol and it hits good question

8:14 PM
@Mith you here?

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M are you here?

@San are you here?

yeah

partly

me too partly

8:16 PM
Well there's some Polish guy.

eh?

I'm not sure, it seemed like they're looking for someone Polish. Stay in contact @Mith.

Hai

Hullo! Welcome to the Table!
@Mith is the guy you wanna talk to @Asm

@Mithoron I'm looking for some help in entertaining a 9 year old Polish child, through the power of safe internet pages that are fun to read in Polish for a kid
But am seriously striking out, since I know not a word of Polish myself

8:20 PM
Hmm, let me think

She's just arrived here (Netherlands) and doesn't speak Dutch, but by law has to go to school, where she understands nothing that goes on. Her teacher will let het work with a tablet to entertain herself, as long as it is ... safe enough
So community editted or potentially opinionated like wikipedia and interactive is too hard to monitor
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M thanks, by the way :-)

Bows
@Mith think. THINK!

:-P

I think @Mith died of thinking hard.

Hope not

8:25 PM
Hmm if Polish Wikipedia isn't safe than what would be?

I don't have to solve this, but I promised our new researcher I'd try
Well, the teacher says (I am told) that she doesn't allow Dutch wikipedia, because it is too hard for 8 to 10 year old children to see the difference between articles that are well researched / based in fact and articles that are not. And she feels if she doesn't allow Wiki for the Dutch children, she can't allow it for Polish Children
Probably more so, because she can't check if the article makes sense or isn't wildly inflamatory
At least with the Dutch ones she can steer kids away from some pages, that's what makes this so difficult

Ech this teacher's scepticism of wiki...
dladzieci.pl/?ticaid=61583e maybe this will do...

shrug if there's nothing you can think of that's more of an answer than nothing I can think of ;-)

I have no idea what any of it is, but it looks educationalesque, and kid centered.
Ahh...mith beat me to it.

I'll suggest it, to me it looks a bit on the young side, but, something better than nothing
Main thing to me is that the poor kid has some other things to do than listening to gibberish for 6 hours
Typed a short mail.
Thanks

8:34 PM
My daughter started working her way through the MIT scratch tutorial (basic programming using click-and-drag blocks) when she was 8, and really enjoyed it. She worked in English, but they have a polish localisation. scratch.mit.edu/projects/editor/?tip_bar=home

I like your stack chat room cheeriness
Our EE room is ... gloomy by comparison

To get the localization, you may have to select from the bottom of the page on this link: scratch.mit.edu/about

kurnik.pl maybe this could do - chess etc. on net?

Oh, that's nice to have, my Nephew if 7 now
is*
@Mithoron I can suggest it. It's multiplayer, right?

yeah
It's not specially for children so not sure
gry.pl/gry/dzieci these are more for children

8:41 PM
She already replied to the first mail, she likes the suggestion and will look into it more
Ah and now the MIT one has complete approval
Seems you have all helped a poor little kid have a couple better days

@Adam Hullo! Welcome to our not-so-humble Table!

Cool - and maybe she'll get a programming or chess-playing bug that will last her for several years!

We can only hope....
<-- Embedded engineer here, so I'm happy to recruit youngens
;-)

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M Thanks - my first visit over here....followed over the conversation about the Polish lassie from ELL.

^.^

8:47 PM
Yep I noticed.
I need some sleep now guys. Have a fun time!

Nearing bed time for me too :/
Sleep well. Thanks again

9:10 PM
