Quick question: is it wise to raise a question in meta about this* answer, which I believe to very sub standard for the Skeptics.SE community, despite the fact it is highly upvoted? *:skeptics.stackexchange.com/a/38034/39853

@Sklivvz, thank you for your reply. I wonder what would be more appropriate. If I have a rebuttal on a answer, should I answer the original question (or in this case, edit my existing answer) including the rebuttal or should I post the rebuttal on meta and ask the community what actions should be taken. To further clarify: the rebuttal consists of pointing out flaws in the reasoning used AND provide new evidence/proof/references which answer the original question.

@Jordy I don't think a rebuttal is appropriate. Just address the question independently. Regarding the other answer, we have strict rules regarding references, theoretical answers and original research: if it violates any of these rules you can post that on meta so we can discuss it across the community.
I think even the OP knows it's a weak answer, and the votes mostly come through the hot network questions list. There is ample space for debating whether to keep it or to improve it.
