Really interesting how a lot of these problems on workPlace SE can be solved by actually sitting down and talking, or by just a verbal acknowledgment. :D

Q: How can I teach my co-worker not to touch me while he talks?

Fahad UddinMy co-worker keeps on touching me while he talks or works on a project. We are both male. I assume he does not mean it sexually but I still do not want him to touch me. How can I teach him?

@Dawny33 If you paste the URL to a question/answer/comment on its own line it'll render automatically.

@Lilienthal I learned that after I became a mod :D

Nothing like putting our best and brightest in positions of authority! :)

The place'll probably burn down before the year is out :)

@Lilienthal The mod induction didn't show me where the fire extinguishers were... ;)

Don't worry mate, it's a chatroom for a reason. :)

@Dawny33 noise? that only took like 30 seconds to read up on! Wait till you see epic "off topic" convos (can you really have off topic in chat though??)
@Lilienthal up to 8 followers!

I'm pretty sure we've had this question before

@enderland I agree but I can't for the life of me seem to track it down, either here or on a blog where I thought I might have read it.
Regardless it needs cleanup to make it a general case.

@Lilienthal I searched a bit for it, but I didn't find something

@Dawny33 are you from India?
Some people have such perfect English skills that it takes a long time before they say something which "gives it away" that they are not native English speakers.. I'm curious now :)

Is it possible to do a search for just questions?

@Chad is:question
but I prefer google :P

2:23 PM
@enderland He is, check his profile.

@Lilienthal Hahah. Love it :D

Hey @Dawny33 , you have a highly visible answer here that I edited to flow more naturally. If you believe that I changed too much please feel free to modify it again or revert the edit.
You may also want to incorporate @enderland's comment into your answer if you feel it might improve it.

Yeah, I'm from India :D

@Lilienthal Thanks. Would look into it

ahah! Only because you used the word "cracked an interview" ) your English is really, really good

:)

People have been really helpful at correcting my English. Especially @JonStory, and now @Lilienthal.

As a newbie, I can say that this community is very welcoming and co-operative. Kudos guys!

@Dawny33 You're welcome. And since you seem to appreciate feedback on your English: rather than saying "[I] would look into it", you'd say "[I] will look into it". The former is, IIRC, what you'd call a "subjunctive mood". So "I would look into it, but I can't right now." versus "I'm going to look into it (in the near future)".

Q: Is this question on-topic?

David KThe question Is it really a bad idea to work at a company that misses the mark for perfection once or twice? was recently posted, and is asking about whether it's good to completely dismiss a company based on one or two bad practices. I really think this is a great question and could lead to some...

A: Is it really a bad idea to work at a company that misses the mark for perfection once or twice?

enderlandImagine you are going on a first date and your date says, "oh, I routinely steal from people, it's great fun." You would almost assuredly be skeptical of everything else this person does because you are questioning their integrity. Most people would not have additional dates with them. And this ...

lol I can't believe I just wrote that answer
