How should the OP discuss with the boss? How does the fact that the OP is from India (which has different culture than the western world) affect this? This answer is a great start but doesn't really answer the question. — enderland14 secs ago
For reference for anyone watching, that was enderland pledging his life and fortune to fighting for the future of The Workplace by being around 24/7 when we light the *Enderland Signal*™
@enderland Lose? No. Not lose. You get me in all the ways you didn't want me, and lose what little shreds of value I actually created. That's just as good, right?
I have a colleague who wears socks and sandals to work. I feel this is really unprofessional and the lack of style offends me. Our office has a smart casual dress code, and this seems a blatant transgression of this.
How can I resolve this problem?
The options I can currently think of are:

@IanHolstead I'm not sure anyone really knows at this point, though I'd imagine eventually Workplace will get another official moderator (@jmort253 might know?)
@enderland thank you for bringing that to my attention. I have refunded the bounty and closed the question.
@IanHolstead we won't stay at 2 mods permanently, no. While that's being worked out jmac retains (and has promised to continue using) his diamond here.
I have been at an internship with a big company for the summer and it's coming to an end in a few weeks. I was hired as a programmer and this was my first "real" programming job. Well the first assignment I was given, which I asked for because I hadn't been assigned anything to do, was a spot of ...
About five weeks ago, I began an internship at a small (~ 35 total employees) software development company. I am a non-traditional CS student in that I went back to school after starting a family and a most interested in work and gaining experience. This internship is the closest thing I've had t...
My school provides a co-op program which will place students for interviews at companies. I applied to this and did end up getting a job doing technical work.
I've been working for a few months. However, it isn't very clear what I was expected to know for this job having learned in school. For e...
I disagree that you cannot answer that question in such a way to alleviate the asker's concerns. There are ways to answer questions which are factual to help with concerns the asker obviously has. Simply saying "My GPA was 2.5" is not one of them. — enderland22 mins ago
actually prompted me to write up an answer for that question
@MattGiltaji No problem -- your post was backed up with personal experience, referenced the important rules, and even linked to a relevant post on another SE! That's a great answer.
This has happened to me on a couple of my past internships this is what I have done:
Ask your boss
I know you already have asked and don't want to bother him too much, but from my experience people don't mind a short disturbance like this (especially when you are just trying to be more helpful)...
@MattGiltaji Thanks, its my only really legitimate answer. I have previously been slightly terrified about posting stuff online so the first answer I posted was a nervous panic which resulted in me reading the question wrong and then trying to patch my answer. However it did teach me a lot about how I should be answering questions (taking my time and stepping away for a minute before posting).
@MattGiltaji I try to only post decent quality content because we already have enough low quality stuff... You know, sorta like that saying when you were a kid, 'if you have nothing worth saying, don't say anything at all'
@IanHolstead I feel the same way. I agonize over my answers before I post them, and sometimes I will be 90% done with an answer and I'll see that someone else just posted a new answer that makes my exact same points
then I just discard it
Or sometimes I just can't nail down the proper wording, it just doesn't flow right, and I'll drop that too
but sometimes a question just clicks with me and this lightbulb goes off... OMG! I had that happen to me! I know exactly how to handle it! and the answer just flows from that
Question:
What are some good ways of listing language proficiency on a resume?
Problem:
Language is such a complex thing to explain simply. There are several aspects of most languages (reading, writing, speaking, listening), and being good at one aspect doesn't mean you'll be good at the rest....
I'm a newbie to Java programming, trying to get the hang of OOP.
So I built this abstract class:
public abstract class Vehicle{....}
and 2 subclasses:
public class Car extends Vehicle{....}
public class Boat extends Vehicle{....}
Car and Boat also hold some unique fields and methods that a...
