I can't decide if it's a dupe either.

@Rachel @enderland, the shortcut is to click on the timestampat the end of the comment. The timestamp is the permalink, and if you paste it in the chat room on a line by itself, it should turn into a comment indented.
lol just had to try it out myself to make sure.
@jcmeloni It's possible the 7 upvotes were for the latter part of the comment, the plea to edit the post to differentiate it. I try to leave comments like this on posts when there are related posts. It serves two purposes:
A - Makes people aware there may be a possible dup to consider.
B - Gives the original poster a chance to use his/her editing skills to dispel any doubts the related posts are a dup. Most importantly, it empowers people to try and fix a post instead of simply voting to close.
So either way, it's a win. :)

I understand; I do the same. Like I said, just trying to figure out if anyone wants to do something specific.
(since no edits were made)

I actually am surprised there aren't any close votes!
Talk about sparking debate and extended discussion :)

I think those questions are different enough to warrant keeping both open, but linked. When searching for a question like that, I always prefer to have the question match my real-life situation as much as possible to get answers tailored to my situation.
One is referring to a job offer with no prior relationship with the company, and the other mentions they have a good relationship with the company, which I think makes them qualify for staying separate questions

@Rachel This is a great point. Questions should be about a real, actual problem you're facing, and many people will face similar problems. The details help ensure the answers match the scenario described in the question.
Overall, we do a great job in this community of looking at each question and evaluating whether or not it's an exact duplicate. :)

Q: Working with many programming languages - Is doing too many different things bad for my career?

viniI'm working as a software engineer, and I have a total experience of one year and six months. For the first one year, I was working as a Web developer with PHP and JavaScript. With my interest I was working with Java for the past 6 years, like I learned it from my school days. I thought I shoul...

I tried to also mention in my answer that this concept applies to many fields, not just programming.
Although the question is more directed at programming....
It's a pretty good question, but there might be some related/possible dups floating around too that might be worth referencing.

Q: What kinds of questions should I ask a recruiter?

FrustratedWithFormsDesignerWhen interviewing with the actual company, I can ask about all sorts of details such as benefits plans, what kind of software they use, vacation schedules, etc... When I'm dealing with a recruiter, I've tried to ask similar questions and get vague responses, or they don't know the answer (they're...

Q: How do I find a recruiter that's actually worth working with?

MDMarraI keep my resume up to date on a few sites just to see what's out there. Normally, this leads to plenty of recruiter spam in the form of Dear Sir, I have an immediate opening in the middle of nowhere on a 3 month contract. Kindly reply ASAP. This really doesn't bother me, but it makes me think th...

these questions seem to be the same
or, at least all the answers to the older Q apply to the newer one

@enderland The answers may apply to both, but the questions seem quite different, and most people searching for answers will be searching based on a question they have, so I'd leave both open
Besides, there might be some parts of answers that may only apply to one question and not the other

A: How do I find a recruiter that's actually worth working with?

FernandoYour best bet might be to find one via a colleague. Update for anyone in additional to @enderland who doesn't understand the "why" or the "how" of this answer... Why? Because most recruiters are a lot like used car salesmen. With experience, you will learn this. Your colleagues have likely inte...

oh fun.
