i think deleuze says that the question of "how there can be stupidity" is a "transcendental question". i _assume_ because it is not a stupid one and so guarantees that there is something more stupid [rather than it necessarily being a stupid question!].
but the question may foreground our own stupidity. in effect then, the question would be something _like_ how can the answer to the meaning of stupidity, be_stupid.
at least assuming that questions only foreground their answers. for the sake of the exercise, let's suppose so.
maybe the prudent answer is that questions can be stupid but "stupidity" can be used in stupid ways.

i.e. stupidity is a quality of questions which can be shared in by the response to them.
which may even go some way to answering why there is stupidity
sometimes there is stupidity because a question's stupidity isn't resolved
as to how the stupidity of a question can be resolved, i'm not sure i can guess
though ofc an elegant solution would be to explain how it is that it is stupid ha

7:26 AM
so if the above is right: stupidity need not be resolved but can be through an explanation of how it came to be.

i quite like this, however exhaustive it is hah
contrast with error: we can know why we were mistaken but still be mistaken.
or ignorance:
which can be resolved just by acknowledging we don't know [some stupidity is even deliberate!]
ah yeah i got error and ignorance the wrong way round
contrast with ignorance [we can be ignorant even when it's explained why we are]
or error [which unlike stupidity cannot really i think be propagated through a mistaken use of that term]
anyway just thinking out loud !

8:25 AM
how about: asking the nature of stupidity can make it better [unlike ignorance] or worse [unlike error]

9:07 AM
contrast with unhelpful
asking "am i being unhelpful" can make you more or less so, but not only is that more of a behavioural thing
i can be unhelpful out of e.g. spite or resentment
stupidity can be feigned, but only i think thru cunning or making a show of it
i dunno
just thinking out loud
