@rchern PARTY TIME!

o:

Lucky for you I can't figure out how to kick you for backwards smiles, so I guess they'll have to stand

@rchern Time to @include chat.stackexchange.com

yeah, i added it a couple minutes ago, testing before i push

"testing before i push"? What is that nonsense?

2:52 PM
oh wait, i remember the holdup

Don't worry, it can be completely invalidated by using bad test data

We're losing to the chat feedback room. Feature request: /sajoin

hahaha

The SO beep sounds too much like my terminal beep ...

Oh yeah, I have to trick flashblock into allowing this domain too

2:55 PM
@CRoss General Atwood wants his troops to assemble here!

So here we are assembled, the most valiant and loyal of us.

@rchern Did you find this?
in Chat feedback, 9 mins ago, by Marc Gravell
@rchern edit => host
I must be blind, and I feel bad bothering Marc to explain it again

yes

Where is "edit"?

create the room, and then look at the info page you get taken to
(or just go to the info page)

3:00 PM
I suck at this...
I just noticed the logo at the top is for Unix, so apparently it's already associated with the right site, but I am still curious where this menu is for future reference

inline to the right of the description

Oh! I thought that was just for the profile stuff. Wow
Thanks
I'm going to move the webapps room to unix. I assume you're cool with that

):

Your chat script has broken me; now I'm slower than ever at using the mouse here

@rchern "You're Cool with that?" "):" "Input not recognised"

The popular tag sets on stackexchange are interesting - bug, discussion, what appears to be a random collection of tags, and a Windows addict

@ThomasMcDonald 8th down is the [ubuntu] tag from SF, SU and Unix, with no tags from AskUbuntu :D

@ThomasMcDonald Link?

What a great question title

Q: What to do when a 800 pound gorilla enters your business?

user3348We had launched blogVault, a wordpress backup service, about a month back. A week later, Automattic, the company behind Wordpress, launches Vaultpress, to massive coverage. This service does pretty much what we do. We were initially hoping to build some SEO/SEM traffic around Wordpress related t...

@ThomasMcDonald Double post

@YiJiang Yeah, I got a timeout error and a retry/cancel note, and then I refreshed it again

All Quiet on the General Front.
@rchern Right, anyway, I assume the script is updated and ready to use with chat.SE?

I'm surprised github links don't onebox

3:45 PM
@MichaelMrozek It doesn't - only gist links do

Well, apparently, I'm just surprised

3:57 PM
It's a little quiet here. Do you want to pipe people from MSO and SO Tavern?

You can paste the link there if you want. I think at least MSO is aware of it, I don't know about SO
MSO didn't mass-migrate to SO when it launched though, so I wouldn't expect that here either

Exactly how many different chat hubs exist right now, anyway? It all seems kind of arbitrary and confusing to me.

@MichaelMrozek Yeah, they say that SO has enough traffic to have it's own chat.

(Which, I suppose, is why most of them are being merged with chat.se)

@Brant Exactly; I think it's just SO, SF, SU, MSO, and here
SF and SU are quite dead too; not sure if they plan to merge those or not

4:02 PM
What's the purpose of MSO when we have SE?

@Brant Well MSO is MSE rather, but with SO included as an added bonus

Well, we've had SE for like four hours; they might merge MSO eventually

Oh, SE is new?
I just keep clicking "chat" links around the network and get confused when I see an entirely different set of rooms.
(maybe I need more coffee)

@Brant Yes, definitely more coffee
That always seems to do the trick

Every time a new chat site launches my productivity for the day drops to 0, so combining them all is probably good news for me

4:11 PM
hehe

Saw "We Will Rock You" a couple of nights ago, it was genuinely excellent

(just attempting to start conversation again) ;)

4:59 PM
@MichaelMrozek chat sites were done launching :P

Indeed some have unlaunched

5:30 PM
Hmm, a bunch of the stackexchange 1.0 sites are attracting spammers now.

1 hour later…
6:36 PM
Damn, my site renders near-perfectly on IE 5.5. I've got to work harder.

7:35 PM
@Brant We've been getting occasional spam since we started
no more than two a day

1 hour later…
8:46 PM
This is weird, I'm not getting the chat box showing up on the homepage now.
Just the '6 people chatting' dialogue.

well, chat move

?
Were we just merged with someone?

@Gnome the boxes were updated to get rooms from this chat site alone
but we chat so much we're being moved in last

You'll have to use smaller words.
Ah, I'll figure it out later, forget about me for now

I'm sorry for 'updated', is 'changed' any shorter?

8:59 PM
:P I meant I didn't really follow you.

@GnomeSlice chat.gaming.stackexchange.com is going down
our rooms will be transferred into chat.stackexchange.com
the boxes are looking into chat.stackexchange.com for Gaming rooms to advertise
but there are none
hence no boxes

Should someone create one?

this'll fix itself
@GnomeSlice let's not and let's wait for our 60k messages to be migrated :)

...Got it. Man, I really need to start paying more attention to the site happenings. :P

9:20 PM
@GnomeSlice why, when you have badp to do it for you?

@C.Ross > Good call....
So what, did we not have enough traffic to merit our own chat?

@GnomeSlice We don't have a corporation bribing for us, rather.

Well, silly corporations!

see, this is why you should stick to... brick-mining-thingy-island-dont-go-out-at-night
From now on I will only refer to Minecraft as brick-mining-thingy-island-dont-go-out-at-night

@MichaelMrozek sorry, doesn't fit in 25 characters
