@Evil moderators can only suspend for at most 1 year. Longer suspensions can only be issued by SE staff.

@Gilles Thank you. Good to know.

@Evil guess we now have an extreme example/ case to scare anyone else into line with, one wonders at the cyber crime o_O

@vzn what? Have you seen current cases? 7 days cooldown for over the top weird behaviour after pointing that it is abusive, that is why I was so surprised
Anyway, I still opt for communication instead of denial or cutting of - those poor offenders gets needy and get back with more disruptive behaviour, it looks like waste of time, right? Not for them.

@Evil its very unusual. he has an apparently unremarkable recent chat record incl some lines in here chat.stackexchange.com/users/171198/… ... presumably got into trouble on some site in particular but cant even guess which one...

@vzn if it were usual I wouldn't bother to ask ;)

@Evil fyi mods tend to be very unwilling to talk/ say anything about suspensions, probably with good reason

@vzn I know, I have seen it and it is good, but the offenders get pushy and persistent without the spightest reason.
Anyway it is a breeze, peace of cake ;) when I was dealing with some unpleasantries it was rare when it didn't ended up in DDOS, break in attempts, multiple accounts spamming or even worse ;)

@Evil Explain it as special case of graphs?
I was thinking of call lists. In my days as school kid, we had a list of all students with phone numbers. If some information had to be spread, the teacher (or whoever) would call #1, who would call #2, and so on. Clearly, everybody needed only the next phone number to get the job done, which would be a linked list.
@Anon Go to your favorite TCS professor.
@Evil Consider the order in which you teach them things. If they already know arrays, no wonder they'll try to use them for everything. So maybe start with lists first, functional style?

@Raphael I have gone to him; however, I feel really shy about "asking him" things because I know professors are really busy people.
