Is it ok to point you folks to some answer in other sites?
I would like a first look at this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/a/43059851/6843677
Is the construct sound?

Or should just go ahead and ask a new question?

@sorontar You can point people to whatever in your question, though your question should if possible be self-contained. And its, AFAIK, fine for there to be duplicate questions across different SE sites (as long as its not the same person asking the same question on multiple sites).
E.g., if you were to ask here, someone might know about grep's -v option :-/
(Strike that, I had my sort set wrong and didn't notice—the highest voted answer does know about -v)
(And BTW: Generally, linking to related stuff is appreciated, it makes it clear, if nothing else, that you bothered to do your research before asking. And can be really useful in not wasting time giving you an answer that's almost, but not quite, what you need.)
