Isn't this just plain sorting? — Braiam 1 min ago

hi

14 hours later…
4:52 PM
@StephenHarris Hah, I have an Officejet Pro that broke (well, it might be fixable with new print heads—but not worth it). Was annoying that because of that it started refusing to scan—it wouldn't let you use the UI, because the REPLACE PRINTHEAD message was far too important... (The scan still worked, you could start it from xsane or whatever—but not the buttons on the printer).
And yet, I still don't want to smash it.
At least partially because its solidly built, and I'm not sure who'd come out ahead in that smash fight...
Probably the printer.
But now I need to find out if one of those places near me. Maybe they'll give me $10 for it :-P

5:33 PM
@derobert You could donate it. That's what I did with my old printer in the US.
To some people in Durham. I don't remember who, of course.

Not sure who to donate a broken printer to...
Though with the weight of the thing, maybe a scrap metal dealer :-/

6:10 PM
@derobert Is it not repairable?
What model is it? The older HPs are built like tanks. It seems a shame to throw one away.

@FaheemMitha it may just need new printheads
but it's not worth spending $100 on.
or even $50
Officejet Pro L7650

Maybe donate it to a museum.

@FaheemMitha it's not that old :-P

6:27 PM
Some people take old stuff to firing ranges, for target practice :-)

6:42 PM
@StephenHarris That seems cruel.
Plus, there's the risk of richochet.
