@StrongBad Yep, I think you did.

Hi everybody. Is there anyone that can help me with nginx?

Hello, everybody. This isn't particularly on topic here. But it's no more on topic anywhere on SE either. I was wondering if anyone knows how to write on a Wikipedia Talk page. Do I edit the source? If so, that seems weird.

Hey so do most people manually link cc to gcc?

@AaronHall No, most, if not all Linux distributions will do it automatically.
Debian happens to use the alternatives system, but I bet everyone else links it, one way of the other.
It's certainly possible to undo/change if you want to. In Debian and derivatives one would use the alternatives mechanism to do so.

8:20 PM
Ok, what is the "alternatives system"?
But this is answering my question... :)

@AaronHall Google "debian alternatives system"

8:47 PM
@FaheemMitha en.wikipedia.org/w/… .... that's how you edit a talk page, just like any other page
the biggest difference is singing your stuff with ~~~~

@derobert You mean you edit the source? I got:
in Root Access, 8 mins ago, by Ben N
If you want to start a new thread-like thing, click New section in the upper-right

that's a shortcut to edit it and add a new section

@derobert Ok. But is it Ok to use that, then? Shortcuts are good when it come to editng markup.

@FaheemMitha yeah, it's fine to do it either way

@derobert Ok. Thanks.

9:13 PM
@derobert You know about mail stuff, right? Are people with email addresses in the .info domain particularly subject to being treated as spam?
And if so, is there anything I can do about it, short of changing my email address?

@FaheemMitha not sure, don't think I'm doing any filtering like that, unless it's default in spamassassin

@derobert Ok. I do seem to end up in people's spam folders from time to time, though. Do you handle mail admin for your company?

@FaheemMitha company email has been outsourced to gmail...
well, Google Apps

@derobert Ugh.

@FaheemMitha you could email me at x4oanr0f@derobert.net (a temporary address I just made up) and I can tell you what the incoming scan says on it...

9:25 PM
@derobert Done. Thanks.

X-Spam-Score: -4.8
X-Spam-Score-Int: -47
X-Spam-Bar: ----
X-Spam-Report: autolearn=no autolearn_force=no, SAvers=3.4.0, Rvers=1750237,
        host=Einstein.derobert.net, contact=…@derobert.net;
        AWL=-2.160,BAYES_00=-1.9,RCVD_IN_DNSWL_LOW=-0.7
so, you must have emailed me something before (hence the AWL), but... nothing is hitting except DNSWL, which is a good thing

@derobert Um. Can you interpret that for me?
@derobert AWL?

AWL = auto white-list, adjusts scores towards the average for that email address
BAYES = bayes filter
DNSWL = white list of known-good email senders

Do you have some spam filters running on your domain?

yeah, quite a bit of spam filtering

9:29 PM
@derobert I see. Thanks.
@derobert Ok. So nothing obviously bad, then?

not that I've found so far

@derobert Ok. Thanks.

running a blacklist check on the sending server IP isn't finding anything either

@derobert Ok. That's good.

and your server even supports (and used) modern encryption to send the message

9:33 PM
@derobert I think it's coming from Luxsci outside Boston. That's my mail host. Do the headers reflect that?

yeah, came through luxsci.com

My local machine hands off to them.
@derobert They seem like they are run my competent people. Even though they appear to be running Sendmail internally for some mysterious reason.
I once had some issue, and they sent me some internal logs. Which looked like Sendmail to me. But I might be wrong.

Forwarded it back to you so you can see all the headers, w/o me pasting private stuff in chat

@derobert Ok. Thanks.

The X-Spam-* stuff is added by my mail system
as are Return-Path and Delivered-To and Envelope-To

9:37 PM
Ok
@derobert Message received. Is einstein your personal machine?

yep
well, one of my servers at home

@derobert Ok. Running Debian?

yeah, Jessie

Ok. Do you keep your servers on UPS's?

yeah, doesn't everyone???
I think it's weird not have have workstations & desktops on UPSes, much less servers!

9:46 PM
@derobert No, I haven't always. My only machine is on a UPS now.
