@MatthewRock Hi

5:04 PM
I finally decided to ignore but sad to see that only makes them less visible in the Q list and not removed entirely :(

@casey you can hide them entirely
unix.stackexchange.com/users/preferences/current and select "Hide questions in your ignored tags"

Hi everyone. First time in chat here.

@HunterStevens Welcome.
Any SE chat, or U&L chat specifically?

Go on, say something Unixy.

I entered into root on my machine, and was shown ABRT has detected 3 problem(s). For more info run: abrt-cli list --since 1440594093. I ran the command and IDK what it means, or even how to google for it

I am running CentOS 7 on the latest supported kernal for it. I just started my machine from a reboot. When I reboot I get that error after calling sudo

My first time as well. Going to try installing steam on my Gentoo machine soon, I hope that everything will go smoothly...

@MatthewRock its painless if you use the steam default setup (with bundled runtime libraries)

Sorry if I scared anyone away with my huge question...

there are also some layman overlays that have steam as an ebuild that will pull in the necessary libraries with the abi_x86_32 use flag
@HunterStevens for stuff like that you should ask on the site rather than here

Anonymous
Well I am not used to U&L's flow of accepted questions, so I am afraid to be downvoted to closed.

I also have a question to ask, eventually, on the site, but do not know how to word it.. IDK where the issue arises and am not familiar enough with Linux to debug.

7:37 PM
@HunterStevens Sometimes it's best to ask on IRC. I often use it as my personal tech support ;) People there are friendly and knowledgeable, and respond fast. You often get solution there much faster than on SE.
Plus, no one will downvote you.

I see SE chat as IRC. I also like how it is behind a website, while IRC you are open to others possibly hacking you...

but SE chat isn't for asking questions, we can discuss them here and help come to an answer, but questions belong on the site
plus in here you may only get a handful of eyes on a question, if any at all
on the site you'll have many more people looking at it

I guess. I am used to the ruby chatroom being active most of the time

Do you know of any good IRC rooms for linux help?

my familiarity there ends in the late-90's early 00's #linux on efnet. no idea what the current state of help is

Okay, I may just go to Reddit for help :-P

bye guys!

@HunterStevens Freenode.net -> #YOUR-DISTRO

@HunterStevens You should still not be afraid to try asking on the main site here. People will let you know in the comments how you can improve your Q and you'll probably get help as your Q looks very answerable by anyone with centos/redhat knowledge

But do as you want

thanks. I will submit my orignal Q to the site now

Q: ABRT report says "irq 19: nobody cared", but why?

Hunter Stevens3.10.0-229.11.1.el7.x86_64 CentOS Linux release 7.1.1503 (Core) Every couple weeks, I need to reboot my system. When I do, and enter as root in the terminal, the following message (in some variation) appears: ABRT has detected 3 problem(s). For more info run: abrt-cli list --since 1440594093 ...

Is there a way to flsh the Ethernet buffers in Linux?
I have a PC talking to an FPGA over Ethernet and I can't figure out how to flush the hardware buffers on the host side
