@chili555 morning !

Serg!!
How are you, sir or madam, as the case may be??
Should we reach out to and wait for Fabby?

I'm quite well, and yes, I'm a guy. My avatar is actually the real photo of me.

Mine not so much.

Fabby might be busy. He's in germany , so it is evening there

If I may ask, where are you? I am in South Carolina, USA.

3:34 PM
Colorado, Denver. The city of Broncos and weed :)

LOL! I spent a month in Durango last autumn. Love Colorado!
I think your wireless problem is two or three competing problems, actually.
In my experience, if one is having trouble with wireless, installing a second conflicting connection manager, Wicd in your case, almost never helps.
And I suspect that they conflict; each trying to run the show and jerking the steering wheel away from the other.

well, what I understand is that in both cases Network Manager and wicd are skipping through a range of IP addresses. Even if i stop network-manager service , wicd does the same thing - skipping through ips.

Another issue is that Realtek's driver suite is a bit funky. we can address that.

ok

Finally, several Linux drivers are or at least seem to be, access point sensitive. They seem to prefer, as one small example, WPA2-AES and not TKIP. There are more.
Do I gather that with or without NM present, you can connect with Wicd?
And did you ever try setting the static IP address details in NM and see if you can connect?
What I am aiming for is just one connection manager and let's try the one we know connects.
NM works in most cases.
When you stop NM service, doesn't it respawn?
ps aux | grep -i network

3:46 PM
either way, nm present or not, I connect with wicd and static IP.
haven't tried setting static ip with network-manager
Restarting network-manager service makes the wifi attempt to automatically reconnect to my router, but hangs in the process

I suggest a three step process. First, let's purge NM. Second, let's make a few changes in the router. If these things don't fix the problem, let's update the rtl8192se driver.
If all that fails, let's take up something easier like world peace or time travel!!!
Does it sound like a plan?

Sounds perfect, I even have time period i want to visit in mind already :) Now, it's almost 10 am, so I'm gonna have to get ready to go to work. I can purge NM right now, but I'll have to follow steps 2 and 3 later tonight or tomorrow. I work in a restaurant for now, so I'm pretty much stuck with trays instead of keyboard whole day

Shal I propose the next steps in an answer to the original question?
BTW, if you have a retired couple come in today and they linger over a long lunch including wine, ask yourself if that could be chili555!

You may post iy either here or as an answer. Hehe, I sure will ask

A bit later today, I will post an answer. If you wish, we can set a time to meet here to discuss it.

4:02 PM
I come back a bit late, around 11 pm. Just leave a message here and I'll read it as soon as I can. Got to go. Bye !
