Hi guys
@DanHulme hi, so how did you know that guy was shilling his own app?

@RossC I can't tell any more
I assume he must have had a link in his user profile and has since removed it

Ha, that's fair enough
It seems common enough all over the internet. A lot of 'killer apps' being recommended. On an unrelated not you should check out RossC Appliction, it's the really amazing one!! :P
*note

when I get an app recommendation like that in a review, I always just quickly check to see if there's anything in common between the app developer and the ASE user profile

1:44 PM
@DanHulme well so long as they disclose that they are the dev of the app it's fine... it's just if they keep spamming and don't disclose that it becomes shunned upon

@BryanDenny yes, I'm talking about when they don't disclose it
if they don't disclose it and look like the app author, I leave a comment
if it also doesn't answer the question, I flag as spam

@BryanDenny while you're here, is there anything mods can do to help users like this one merge their accounts? android.stackexchange.com/questions/60817/…

2:17 PM
@DanHulme and those are the right actions :)
@GAThrawn merge with who?
OH I think I see now
someone deleted the answers

I though there used to be an option to merge accounts but I can't find it. @flow can we still merge users?

@BryanDenny We've had to approve some of his edits to his question because he's using a different account too, android.stackexchange.com/posts/60817/revisions

I don't think mods can merge accounts anymore. I think someone above has to android.stackexchange.com/help/merging-accounts

2:35 PM
ah ok, thanks for checking

I vaguely remember being able to merge low rep accounts but it has been a very long time since I did so

@BryanDenny IMHO we never could
ahh ok maybe low rep ones

I can't remember :)

@BryanDenny You probably did merge mine back then, over a year ago.
So yes, you could.
When I started, I didn't explicitly create an account – so only my session was recognized based on cookies. Those were gone after switching to a different computer, so I created a new account and asked for a merge – which was done promptly.
Oh... That might have been on AskUbuntu...
But still, same network :)

Q: What is the 'Tablet' tag for?

GAThrawnWhy do we (currently have) 277 questions tagged with tablet? This seems like one of the most generic and pointless tags out there. I realise that back when tablets were new and unusual in the Android world there was even a competition with prizes for questions tagged as tablet but tablets were s...

WTF? Google Play Services 4.1 adds support for turn-based multiplayer games

well that's neat-o

I wish they'd never renamed all that stuff to "Play". I always struggle to see what's for Gaming and what's for real.

7:19 PM
I finished publishing the app I was talking about yesterday. Get it from here if you're interested.

7:35 PM
@DanHulme why "wtf". Seems like a long missing feature

it's quite a niche feature for a library that is installed on every device
Google Play Services is turning into the .NET framework

@DanHulme Hmm? I don't see the relation

it's becoming a kitchen-sink library

@DanHulme I don't think so. From my experience people love playing turned based multiplayer games on their tablets/smartphone
like chess, go, whatever

@Flow but most such games won't use Google's implementation
because they want to interoperate with desktop games, etc.

7:39 PM
@DanHulme I think different™ ;)

8:11 PM
@DanHulme is there api docs for this somewhere?

I expect so. I haven't read it; I just saw the announcement.

k, I hadn't digged for them yet, I'll look later

@DanHulme Which can be good or bad. If a device has no GApps (either because the manufacturer did not include them, or the user decided so for e.g. privacy reasons), apps relying on it won't run on them. I'm not sure if the NoGApps framework does fully cover it.

9:26 PM
@Flow @BryanDenny Here's another fresh candidate to check your super-powers on: Can you merge his accounts, or is that no longer possible? His Q was migrated here from SU, but lost the connection to his account somehow: android.stackexchange.com/questions/60948/…
In case you can, maybe you also can migrate his "answer" to a comment #)

9:44 PM
@Izzy we don't seem to have any way to fix this. The only thing I can recommend is android.stackexchange.com/help/merging-accounts
I made it a comment

10:03 PM
@BryanDenny Good point! Though I probably will forget the link, I hope I'll remember the information :)
@BryanDenny Thanks a lot!
OK, I'll be offline now for a couple of minutes: uptime: 154d 23:43. Time for a reboot for all the kernel updates to take effect #D
See you in a few minutes, hopefully...
Yupp, that went fine :D

nooo 154d uptime gone? ;)

Yupp :( I'm going to drink something now, against my depression #D
Honestly: I'm not after "big uptimes". It's just that I love to keep my desktop in "working order". Each reboot destroys that, and I have to re-adjust all my "open windows"...
8 Terminals with mc running in the correct directories on the correct machines, mail, some text documents... If I don't reboot, I can just pickup where I left.
I don't remember my "largest uptime", but if I'm not too far off, I once made it for more than a year. If it weren't for kernel updates, I'd probably never reboot #D

10:19 PM
which OS are you using?

Linux of course :)

which flavor I mean :)

My last M$ was playgroups (3.11). Switched to OS/2 as soon as I had the "big amount" of 8 Megabytes RAM LOL
Then OS/2 really died (after being "told dead" since 2.11, I left it at 4.51), and I went SuSE (RPM-based).
They screwed up somewhere in their 9.x releases (each bugfix created two new bugs, each worse than the fixed one). So I went Ubuntu in 2005.
Now Ubuntu screws up as well with their commercials, tracking, and the like. Next distro most likely will be plain Debian.

ah
Ubuntu is the only distro I've played around in
if I wasn't such a Windows/C# dev, maybe I could convert :)

I like the .deb packaging system more than RPM, so I'll stay with it :)

10:24 PM
Anyways, end of work day for me. Have a great weekend!

Yeah, C# might be an issue. I only develop in "OS independent" languages (PHP, some Python, plus databases), so that doesn't bother me :)
Oh yeah, to you too! See ya!
I'll go testing BubbleUPnP with my network devices (TV, Blueray), to see if it can steer them :)
