@Izzy would it be helpful to have a question and answer of last night's discussion? Something along the lines of "I keep hearing about activities, services, broadcast receivers, and intent filters. What's the difference?"

@DanHulme on the one hand, not a bad idea, as I've just learnt a few things reading through last night's log. On the other hand, this is fairly dev oriented stuff - it would need careful editing to keep it relevant to the average end user who's just trying to find out how things work in the background
 
@GAThrawn Yeah, it has to be user-oriented, with examples from the user's point of view, not the developer's.
it's definitely "power user" stuff that most users don't need to know
but I can imagine understanding this would make working with things like Tasker easier

I fully agree with both of you: Yes, it's borderlining the dev-area -- but I definitely say it also affects the "average power-user". Tasker is a good example. And there are some other tools around which allow "calling intents" directly (take e.g. a look at Apex launcher, where I just discovered this feature to create your own very-specific-widg... ahem, shortcuts)
