There are a couple of physics books I'd like to buy and read, but they are in German and I don't know this language. So, either I hope they'll get translated sooner or later or I start learning German. Mm...

The latter is part of a series by Florian Scheck which is very good (Scheck's Classical mechanics is one of the best books on classical mechanics available).

@MassimoOrtolano I tried to recapture Quantum Mechanics from Scheck’s corresponding book once, but I don’t remember whether I considered it good or bad.

Would have to have a look at the book again to spark my memory – unfortunately I am not in its vicinity.

I never heard of the other author.

@Wrzlprmft Scheck's Quantum Mechanics is a good one but not as an introductory book, or as a fast refresher, and it's geared toward particle physicists (for someone interested or working, e.g., in optics or solid state physics I'd suggest other authors).
