Is there some way to find out what the stats shown on area51 were in the past? (For example, how much questions per day we had 1 month ago.)
I am aware that some past data are mentioned in this post on meta.
BTW sports.SE will soon be 1000 days in beta.

Q: Why do players and some parent coaches tell the pitcher "you are only just a pitcher, you're not really a baseball player"?

DavidI was very surprised by a comment from a helper coach in charge of the pitchers.First night for my son in a new club, first night of trials for div.1.The group of pitchers were told "Pitchers are no body's,all you know how to do is pitch".Now the catchers say the same.Is there a real resentment to...

Q: sports odds explanation for NFL

user1357015I'm looking at sports odds at for the first time and am a little confused. I understands that if ATS (against the spread) is negative than the home team is predicted to win. Also, SP (spread) predicts the total point value difference. However, I'm looking at the favorite's column in a spreadshe...

Q: Can you hold a tabletennis paddle with two hands?

echadBy ittf regulation, is it legal to hold a paddle with two hands? On one serve, someone managed to return by using his normal hand with the addition of his other to stabilize the paddle better. Is that legal?

Jose Canseco continues to be a mystery. shoots self in hand with own gun.

well we have had a rare christmas eve for sports last night...
...that makes today christmas day :D

aye WS Game 7 is a rare treat!

good deduction my friend :D
but what I'm suggesting is with basketball starting last night too, this is the only time of the year you can see ALL the major sports
which makes it so much rarer

ah very true. Though no football tonight sadly. But yes, all 4 sports are in season for this 2 days of the year

Vegas has the Royals favoured by 1.5 runs
after that 10-0 pounding

6:19 PM
whats the over/under?

dunno
that one is too much of a gamble imo

the way this series has gone...unless it's 6+ gives me the over

never did play that...
...in any sport

I kind of like that kind of prop-bet type wager over the winner and loser

orly?
interesting...

6:22 PM
not that I'd be any good at it, it's just a bit more fun to me

i like cheering for only one side

(I'm not a gambler tho)

i'm bias that way

I generally prefer not to have a stake in the outcome and just want to cheer for a good game. So a prop bet is perfect for me

fair enough :-)
1.5 runs makes me go for the Giants
if they do it and win, that will be the second Giant dynasty :D

6:26 PM
every game in this series save one has been decided by 5+...

true
this is gonna be a treat

also home team has won 8-10 WS when down 3-2 and heading back home

the numbers are flying around
only 5 hours till game time
@waxeagle the u/o is 7

@IceBoy hmmm it's been over 7 4/6 games...I'll take the under
and I think I'll give the runs and take the Royals. Final score will be 4-2 Royals.

OK I'll take the Giants +1.5
you say the Royals must win by 2 runs

6:39 PM
aye

good luck
enjoy the game

sad part is I don't even get to watch :(

:O

I've got a client call, then heading home to no TV

:O

6:40 PM
I'll pull it up on my phone though

ok

baseball is a great radio sport

it is

my child hood is filled with memories of staying up way to late listening to Jon Miller and Fred Manfra call orioles games
Miller is with the Giants now and hearing his calls always makes me nostalgic

I need to crunch some more last minute numbers before the game starts...catch you later :-)
baseball always has soooo many stats

6:44 PM
oh it does

5 mins ago, by Ice Boy
enjoy the game
:D

Q: Is a top prospect usually called up at the beginning or middle of the season?

ScimonsterWhen it is known before the season starts that the team's top prospect will be called up that year, does it usually happen for Opening Day, or do they get the call later in the year? Also, are there different statistics regarding pitchers vs. position players?
