I need some advice from the experts here. I posted a question and tagged the proposal I wanted it to show up in, with the intention that people who come there will know that they dont need to worry about answering example questions as that's not the purpose we put those in.

A lot of people visit those sites and I doubt all of them go through the FAQs in detail, so I wanted to have a quick way to tell them that they dont need to answer the question, just vote on them or add their own. So I posted this discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/questions/25705/… in the discussion forum. I have already received 3 downvotes for the question. What was the right way of doing this?

It gave an option of Answer your own question. I thought it was acceptable.
