hello my friend :)

hello d.

how have you been?
everything ok? have you solved your musician friend's mirroring problem?

I didn't solve the problem until now
He's just working with his current setup. Or maybe he's still in easter holiday. I haven't heard from him in a while

I have another flower with this MacBook Pro... when I try to
cmd+tab
between applications - the tiltle on the title bar cchanges but he actual target application window isnt brought up.
There is a similar topic on askdifferent, (http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/29705/cmdtab-switches-to-the-correct-space-but-doesnt-bring-app-up-to-front)
but I use spaces on my iMac and it all works, and on the notebook it doesn't...
Might you have any ideas in that respect maybe?

12:52 PM
Did you clean install the MacBook Pro?

No, but I am considering it
i will download the installer now
can a fresh install be initiated from a current installation or shall i do it from pressing alt cmd R at startup?

Alt-cmd-R will finally install the original OS. Cmd-r will install Yosemite

ok thanks

What's the build date of the MacBook Pro?
If you boot to Recovery Mode (Cmd-R) you have to erase "Macintosh HD" with Disk Utility first. Otherwise it won't be a clean install because only the original system files are replaced but no config files. So any misconfig or unwanted apps/system configurations may survive.

13 inch early 2011
2,7 GHz Intel Core i7
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
ntel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
ok so i will prepare a usb with yosemite installer, then boot to the system utilities , erase drive and perform install from usb...

1:08 PM
Then Lion will be installed booted to Internet Recovery Mode (alt-cmd-r).

so u suggest booting to (alt-cmd-r).which will install a clean Lion and then update to Yosemite?

It's not necessary to use a thumb drive. You may just boot to the internal Recovery HD (cmd-r), open disk utility, erase "Macintosh HD" with JHFS+, quit Disk Utility, open Install OS X and then install Yosemite.

ok, this is wha I'll do

After booting to Recovery HD you will get a window with 4 entries: 1. OS X Install 2. Restore Time Machine 3. Disk Utility and 4. Safari Help. First click Disk Utility, then erase the disk and finally quit Disk Utility. Then open OS X Install
hmm erase the volume Macintosh HD and not the disk! sorry

1:24 PM
ok

i have to go shopping soon. I'll be back in ~20 minutes.

no worries - i need to shoot off as well - ned to meet my family
will speak to you later :)

ok
