does anybody else get constant emails from recruiters just listing random technologies and asking if your interested
interested in what? A list of words? You have told me zero about the job
C#, Agile, Test driven development, MVC, Angular
Great....A list of stuff this tells me zero about the job because everyone has the same list!

@Liam It's all a bit flashy, like just dangling something shiny in front of a magpie... doesn't matter what the hell it is, just see if they go for it!

@Liam - yep. I typically get 3 - 5 pings a day at the moment. My basic set of rules ends up blacklisting a lot of them (if they don't give me any info about the role, or about them, for example)
@Francky_V happy to discuss your thoughts in here, as I think you are coming from a position far away from how SE works.

@RoryAlsop Perhaps a bit - but then I think there are major differences. First about the nature of discussions on outdoors vs most other SE. Also about meta-discussions vs main SE discussions
Regarding downvotes - I don't think each downvotes requires a comment, however I do believe that downvotes on a blank topic without explanation aren't all that useful
Totally understand it's anyone's right to downvote (I do sometimes as well) without explanation. My comment was more related to the fact that there wasn't any discussion actually started yet. Great that people disagree - but the interested bit isn't so much the disagreement but why
Especially if we consider the basic roles of votes/downvotes - which is to bring up/down good/bad posts, answers, comments... I'm not sure the traffic on outdoors.meta really makes up/down votes on the meta topic themselves as usefull as on busier places?

9:38 PM
My downvote was because I disagree with most of what you had written in that post.
@Francky_V And I disagree entirely with this. Up and down votes on meta are not to bring up or down posts, but generally to show agreement or disagreement. The traffic numbers don't come into it
Meta here is actually used very well - better than on some much busier sites
