@RoryAlsop Perhaps a bit - but then I think there are major differences. First about the nature of discussions on outdoors vs most other SE. Also about meta-discussions vs main SE discussions
Regarding downvotes - I don't think each downvotes requires a comment, however I do believe that downvotes on a blank topic without explanation aren't all that useful
Totally understand it's anyone's right to downvote (I do sometimes as well) without explanation. My comment was more related to the fact that there wasn't any discussion actually started yet. Great that people disagree - but the interested bit isn't so much the disagreement but why
Especially if we consider the basic roles of votes/downvotes - which is to bring up/down good/bad posts, answers, comments... I'm not sure the traffic on outdoors.meta really makes up/down votes on the meta topic themselves as usefull as on busier places?
