4:31 AM
Morning all!

2 hours later…
6:41 AM
Why is it Monday?! Can't we have another Sunday?

1 hour later…
7:50 AM
@Aravona LOL
Morning

Morning!

I quit scouts...it wasn't for me

And good edit @Liam - thanks

@RoryAlsop Oh, which one?

@Liam making the traffic officer one a little more general

7:51 AM
@RoryAlsop ah, yes. It was when I saw the duplicate, seemed to look odd!
@RoryAlsop How are you? Been jet setting about?

@Liam yeah - been a bit hectic. Two jobs, and loads of running up and down the country. Off to London again today

@RoryAlsop Booo!
:)

Hoping to soon get back to just one job - either mine or my boss's
depending on how these interviews go :-)
2

@RoryAlsop Good luck!

thanks

7:55 AM
So I left my lights on waiting for work to open and... Had to get a jump.... F Mondays.

@Aravona :-( not good
One of the reasons I always carry jump leads and a tow rope in my car

@RoryAlsop yeah I had jump leads and a coworker jumped me when I got in the carpark... Then drove round the block for 10 mins, over revving a bit. Hope it'll start later, I commute for about an hour so should charge it easily.

Hi base camp!

@M'vy morning (again :-)

@M'vy Hi @M'vy
@Aravona How long were your lights on for? Most modern batteries will last for quite a while

8:06 AM
@M'vy morning!
@Liam erm like 40mins lol...
Right today is tackle loads of misbehaving javascript day.

@Liam that's a good point actually. Mine would last about 6 hours with headlights on, or a couple of days on interior lights only

@Aravona yeah, that seems a little odd to me. Most modern batteries should last longer than that

@Ara - you need to get a new battery

@Aravona Yes, this ^

@Liam it's probably the aame battery we had in it when we brought it, in 08, and it's 05 reg

8:07 AM
Cheap, convenient, do it before the winter :-)
because you don't want it to happen when you are out on a moor somewhere in a blizzard

Also a new windor motor probably... And it needs a service...

@Aravona Halfords often do a cheap deal before the winter, and they'll fit it for you, which is handy, as batteries always get corroded and manky

And a new speedo sensor / gearbox if they can't get the sensor off lol... But it's 10 years old and only done 52K, so
@RoryAlsop good idea. I'm sure Dyna can fit one as he uses car batteries at work to power his vans water pump.

@Aravona They're pretty easy to fit.

@Liam yeah - I got them to fit mine last time as the bottom bolt holding the old one in was a nightmare - gut my arm open trying to undo it - mostly because there is no space under the bonnet in my car. Pipes and stuff crammed in everywhere

8:12 AM
@RoryAlsop what's your car?
Ours is easily accessed being a model year 05 ford focus zetec.
(I work in the car industry...)

@Aravona Litchfield Forester STi
a very silly car - the standard Subaru Forester would have it very easily accessible

@RoryAlsop oh nice!

But mine is now up to 400bhp, and there is not much space left in there

@RoryAlsop that's awesome :) we don't have data on your car though :( so I can't sneak peak it.
Well we have subaru info obviously, but don't have many cars based on importers or who supes them. I think the only sort of cars we have like that now are rhe Abarth versions of the fiat 500.
Anyway. Cars is work talk blurgh.

@Aravona performance is better than the Impreza Sti from the same year. And it's lovely fun - plus, we go camping with it, with the whole family
0-60 is 4.2. Top speed is just over 190mph :-)
hee hee hee

8:30 AM
@RoryAlsop oh that's awesome. We can get so much camping get in the focus it's mental

@Aravona That's why we got this - the most fun car I have ever owned, but also the most practical, but a long shot - sooo much space in there
(sorry for still talking cars)
the only downside - it's 10 years old (almost) and has done 140k - and is definitely on the way out. Starting to burn a lot of oil, and the garage reckons 6k to refurb the engine :-(
Trying to find an alternative is hard - they just don't make them any more

@RoryAlsop no they don't. And newer cars are all computer controlled which whilst great when it works... Is expensive when it goes wrong
Our focus is 05 so still computery but at the same time has a lot of mechanical parts still so, you can fix an amount yourself
My dad used to fix up cars with his brother and my late grampy... They'd sit around eating beans for a few days so they had enough spare metal to just hammer into shape and rivet or weld on lol... Good old times.
They reckon to fix the sensor, if the gearbox needs replacing will be 600 just for the parts... And with the door and now a new battery we're looking at about a grand including labour...

8:51 AM
@Aravona :-(
I do remember the old cars my dad used to have - Tennants lager cans for exhaust pipes...

@RoryAlsop haha hell yeah... Also back when tins and cans were a bit sturdier than they are now

@RoryAlsop ha ha ace
My car is impractical, but I don't really need practicallity right now so I figured I might as well take advantage of it
Steph is getting broodier by the day so I feel my days my be numbered....
It'll be family saloon soon :(

@Liam Subaru make good fun family saloons at a pretty cheap price - just sayin...

@RoryAlsop The new Scubbies are pretty ugly...
@RoryAlsop My brother has one, he loves it
@RoryAlsop I think I prefer the Evo's now

@Liam when you are in them, you can't see the ugly
:-)

9:05 AM
@RoryAlsop LOL

Actually, the newest new scoobies are a bit better again - they don't just look like the Ford Focus, but have their own personality back

@RoryAlsop The last one I saw looked like a Mazda but with a big scoop in the bonnet
very odd
@RoryAlsop Just googled the new one, looks much better
not as nice as the old WRC one's though

True
@Liam heh. I was trying to find a replacement for the Foz, so did a search on 500bhp family estate cars. Top result was the Bentley Shooting Brake, at only £750,000
there is a BMW M5 V10 over 500bhp, but it's also too expensive for me

Must have...500....b...hp
:)
Mine has 157bhp

A lot of the time I don't use anywhere near full power, but when I want to overtake, there's no run-up needed. Just ping past. Much safer. :-)

9:15 AM
TBH, mine, (schirocco) only a 1.4 petrol so 157bhp is pretty good! Monster turbo in it. Does mean I can overtake pretty well when needed. Does help where I live, lot's of pootling tourists on the country lanes

@Liam exactly ^

9:30 AM
@Liam so long as you don't end up in something like the Seat Alhambra...

@Aravona yeah that's puggly
@Aravona Ciroen Berlingo

@Liam haha omfg that's awful.

Mamma and pappa sween (stephs mum and dad) have one of them
Steph call's it "the party taxi"

My mates got a hyundai i10, and shopped around for a car for price but could have got a Kia picanto if they wanted... It's the exact same bloody car.

I'm glad I got a petrol VW! :)

9:49 AM
@Liam lol!! Yeah but it'll only effect your RV, it's not as big an issue as it seems and you can get compensation

@Aravona I do think they're even going to have to make them less efficient or increase the tax you pay. The whole thing was made to make them look economical but keep the performance. so something's going to have to give...

10:12 AM
@Liam certainly will do but unlikely in too painful a way woth the compensation. We're more interested in the fact your car is going to be worth less on resale because no one will want them lol

2 hours later…
12:14 PM
Urgh the bane of the internet is back... IE7-9! Fml

12:27 PM
@Aravona ??

1:04 PM
@Liam the new changes I'm making utilise a sttucture made by a coworker who left... And it's boned in IE7...
So that's another fix.
