7:49 AM
Morning

1 hour later…
9:00 AM
Morning all
Been busy lately moving into my new house and arguing with my old landlord
what'd I miss?

1 hour later…
10:01 AM
@Liam parties. And booze. And more parties.
We all had a bbq without you
Other than that... not much.

@Aravona :(

@Liam how is the new house though? :)

@Aravona Getting there! Just need to get my deposit back from my old landlord now. He's being a dick about it

10:19 AM
@Liam urgh thats shit. Renting the new place or brought?

10:32 AM
@Aravona Renting again. See how I get used to living in the middle of nowhere :)
@Aravona Good weekend? Not long till snowdon now?!

@Liam had a great weekend thanks... though work and parties got in the way of kayaking we went geocaching instead :) Snowdon is the weekend after this one!
Very much looking forward to it

10:46 AM
And finally I can see the grizzly in the chat room :D (Just kiddin @Liam)

@WedaPashi I love that bear photo
Yeah, I've been a bit busy lately

@Liam :)

Hows things @WedaPashi?

@Liam: yeah, read about the new house stuff. I am doing good. Had a good trek last weekend, broke my toe on the way home and now I can't run, cycle, hike, climb for a month or so.
@liam: No shoes either!

@WedaPashi Oh, nasty. How'd you manage that?

10:50 AM
@Liam: I bike rode on my toe. and I had floaters on.

@WedaPashi floaters?

@Aravona Yeah I'm not sure what this is?
Sandals?

@Liam @aravona: Yep

Oooohhh .... ok @WedaPashi I get you now.
I need to clean my walking boots up before Snowdon but am hopefully going for a full day gear hike this weekend (rain or shine!) And if we can manage it... damn kayaking

10:58 AM
@aravona: Ahh, sounds like a plan!

I'm trying to get hold of some winter boots right now. My girlfriend got some cheap off ebay, seems there are plenty of girlfriends encouraged into the mountains in winter by their boyfriends who subsequently don't like it and sell their boots on ebay for cheap! She got some lovely Scarpa's brand new full price £300+ she paid £80!!
Well jealous

@Liam: haha :D

@Liam I have hi-tec boots that were likr 50quid... but they are so damn comfy I love them

11:18 AM
@aravona: I use military combat shoes. Nothing beat them :D

@WedaPashi lol I had a friend who brought construction boots instead... I wouldn't say 'nothing beats my boots' as your boots are only good for you

Yeah, thats right

My fiance has serious issues with his boots

11:33 AM
@Aravona Problem is I need crampon rated boots and only really two brands make them Scarpa and La Sportiva!
I totally want these
I'm just not prepared to pay that money for them

@Liam ooh yeah that would narrow down your options.
I might be quiet a bit because my code (something I know is simple) is being a pain

@Aravona ha ha, I know that feeling

11:50 AM
@Liam IIS is a pain so just restructured my site lol... now trying to get web.config to cut .php off the url

@Aravona Yep IIS is a pain. I would of thought you'd be using apache for php?

@Liam oh one can dream... php on IIS for half our servers... the ones I put together are ubuntu based

3 hours later…
2:29 PM
@Liam Marlin military/police boots. Cheap but surprisingly comfortable

@RoryAlsop They good for winter crampon use?

@Liam Never used them for that, but I would imagine they should work - they aren't over-large

@RoryAlsop It's more the stiffness of the boot I need. They need to be B2 rated really. Means they have a steel sole that stops them from flexing when you apply weight though the toes of the crampons
I think it's steel, could be something else I guess

Ahh - these won't work. Part of the comfort is down to them being reasonably flexible
Good for long distance hiking

@RoryAlsop Trying to find a picture of them? Sound interesting

2:45 PM
@Liam Your google search would have failed, because I gave you the wrong name...oops. Magnum is the correct name:

@RoryAlsop howdy

ah! they look pretty badass

@Liam ... that feeling you get before the end of play when you finally figure out which bit of your code was wrong!

fully fire retardant, breathable public order safety boot which has been certified as protective clothing for use in violent situations.
That's what I want in a boot!
@Aravona yeah, I bet it was something insignificant too? Always is!
conditioning water and dirt repellent technology which repels all forms of liquid including blood borne pathogens, alcohol, fuel and other flammable substances.
YESSS
These are awesome. I totally want a boot that is both suitable for violent situations and repels blood borne pathogens

@Liam ... yeah this is code I've inherrited from someone who never bothered to write code for a website that would grow... traced it back to a single line of code and then everything worked

2:51 PM
@Liam I wear one pair hiking, and I have another (really old pair) for on stage. The stage pair have duct tape holding one side together - I ripped it open on a piece of rebar on a photo shoot. Forget blood borne pathogens - I want iron rod repellant!

Guaranteed to be THE boot for kicking the shit out of hippies..
Should be added!

@Liam .... they sound like boots for the zombie apocalypse

Amazeballs

3:06 PM
Oh @Liam how was ikea?

@Aravona Pretty average. We had an argument over the type of drawers we wanted. Pretty much the same as every other trip to ikea by anyone in the world ever.....The girlfriend won the argument if you interested
...
:)

@Liam ... I've never argued in Ikea... my other half and I always like the same things... then I pick up a stuffed rat and shout 'Is hamster mr Fawlty Is hamster!' Then we pay and sometimes get a hotdog.

@Aravona ha ha
@Aravona It's all about the meat balls
room topic changed to The Great Outdoors: then I pick up a stuffed rat and shout 'Is hamster mr Fawlty Is hamster!' Then we pay and sometimes get a hotdog. [angry-bovinae] [banana-measurements] [euphemism] [helmet] [testicle-and-raccoon]

@Liam haha!!!

3:44 PM
So I just checked back into SO
Seen this question
This is why I stopped going here. Lazy people asking lazy questions that have already been asked 100 times before
rant over
:)

3:55 PM
@Liam heh - it got closed and deleted quickly enough

4:29 PM
I'm just going to leave this here.....
and this....

2 hours later…
6:03 PM
@Liam Why only those two brands? There are plenty of good crampon-rated boots available
Seems we had some good new traffic on TGO
@Liam After quite a struggle in deciding which will be my first alpine boots to use with crampons, I bought the Meindl Jorasses: sport-schuster.de/out/pictures/800x800/…
I guess brands like Meindl, Hanwag, Lowa, Salewa are all German but they all produce high quality shoes with quite a lot of experience. They don't sell to the UK? That would be a pitty. La Sportiva is ofc good as well.

3 hours later…
8:51 PM
@RoryAlsop I was speaking about the self-evaluation on TGO

Oh, yes
You can definitely have a good answer that just hasn't got a high google ranking

I don't know if those google rankings are so trustworthy
Depends highly on the question and how you search for it

@EverythingRightPlace nah - I take them with a pinch of salt

some are so specific, when you search for the topic you will for sure hit TGO first

If you get all the folks in your team to google for something you can quickly find out who has the best google-fu, and it comes down to knowing how to play the search terms game

8:53 PM
google-fu?

ability to find obscure stuff through google

Well we are at #1...

9:34 PM
I just saw that too. Never done a site self-eval before. Interesting.

9:58 PM
For me it's really hard to do it... @nhinkle
