wow it's been such a long time since I was here (or use Mathematica for that matter, I can't believe I wrote those codes back then).
btw does anybody still has the solarized notebook with the stylesheet that I posted here (mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/5846/…)? Dropbox deleted my account so the file was gone for good :(

@Edmund I got two of these e-mails and assumed they referred to 11.0.1. Didnt test them though. Guess I should do that now.

I got an email on Friday saying they fixed the bug I reported where StringCases causes a kernel crash when you pass a non-string to the operator form. I can confirm it is fixed in 11.0.1.
StringCases[1, "abc"]
1 // StringCases["abc"]
The second used to crash the kernel.

@SjoerdC.deVries Do you think it's not a good idea to use paclet servers at this time? Or not use paclets at all (because it's an opaque file until installed)? I'm honestly not sure how to proceed. My first reaction when I saw the other paclet server post on W Community was that I won't bother because of security issues. But when Albert posted his guide here, I couldn't resist the temptation.
@Sjoerd If I think about it, paclet servers aren't any worse than paclet files for as long as my server is as secure as my github account (which may not be the case but can be improved).
One big, as of yet unsolved question is: will packages update from paclet servers completely automatically and without the users' knowledge?

@Szabolcs I really like the ease of installing that paclets offer. I'd like Mathematica offered a tool to analyze a file to see whether potentially harmful constructions are present (I believe we had a Q&A about that before). In absence of that we have to trust people. I wouldn't mind using your paclets or halitutan's, to name a few. But trusting some other, anonymous poster would be more difficult.
New technology is often cool and fun, until the hackers come. See connected cars, and the security disasters they pose, now that they have been introduced without attention to security.

Exactly. What if my site gets hacked?
I actually share that account with others. I could probably run the paclet server on github pages, which may be more secure. But there's always a risk.

People who didn't understand the discussion on meta recently on overusing small edits should see the following edits, all done within a few minuters:
http://mathematica.stackexchange.com/posts/77119/revisions
http://mathematica.stackexchange.com/posts/64407/revisions
http://mathematica.stackexchange.com/posts/105567/revisions
http://mathematica.stackexchange.com/posts/14160/revisions
It used to be more at a time; now he's limiting himself to four I suppose since he's been told to be aware of how it affects the front page. But I just want people who felt targeted to see that there are different ways of making small edits. In this case f.e. the user turned "phase portrait" into a link to Math World, in a closed, nine months old question.
