@m_goldberg With this answer, can we have the tag back? :) (I personally found the question very interesting if understand as How to generate line-drawing style 3D graphics.)

@rm-rf The standard V10 plot colors are given by ColorData[97][Mod[n, 10, 1]].

@MichaelE2 Pics? Changing the default plot colors is my top request I've been too embarrassed to ask for.
ListPlot[RandomReal[1, {2, 20}], Filling -> Axis, PlotLegends -> True]
It is very hard for me to tell the difference between those two sets of points.

6:55 PM
@MichaelHale Not a fan of that default color scheme, too.

7:21 PM
@Silvia Thanks. I mean, I can deal with it, but that's a simple example that seems to be missed by the "sophisticated built-in algorithms for aesthetic optimization", which often work very well.

@MichaelHale Aesthetics is subjective ;)

True, I think faded pink and purple are fine colors. But I think it's objectively valuable for data visualization styling to not sacrifice the ability to interpret the information for aesthetics.

7:46 PM
@MichaelHale First five colors:

Oh, I do like that better. Thanks. I just didn't like the default first two being so similar.

8:40 PM
$Pre = Function[in,
If[! FreeQ[Unevaluated@in, HoldPattern@Solve[__]],
Expand@Evaluate@in, in], HoldFirst];
Solve[a x + y == 7 && b x - y == 1, {x, y}]

How might I "rename" the vertices of a graph?
For example, instead of 1, 2, 3, etc. maybe I want "A", "B", "C" instead

amr
10:50 PM
@hftf You can use anything you want as vertices.

@amr Ah sorry, I know about that, but I want to use for example something built-in like CompleteGraph[...].
Instead of doing Graph[EdgeList[CompleteGraph[...] /. {...}]] or something
The brackets are messed up there, sorry

@hftf Look up VertexLabels -- second example

11:07 PM
@MichaelE2 Thanks Michael, but that doesn't do what I want - it only applies a superficial label. I want to do something like HighlightGraph[mygraph, UndirectedEdge@@@{{"A","B"},{"C","D"}}] instead of HighlightGraph[mygraph, UndirectedEdge@@@{{1,2},{3,4}}]

amr
i remember circumventing this with Block in version 8. I can't seem to reproduce that in v9 though.
i did something like Block[{Graph = graph}, ...]
oh here we go
VertexReplace

Oh
@amr I feel really dumb now. Thanks amr

We had mentioned getting Mr. Wizard the newer version of M, is that likely to still happen?
