hi

2:45 PM
@xslittlegrass hello, thank you for keeping the chat alive :P
@xslittlegrass I must say that I found it very interested that you and Michael Hale were thinking of working at WRI. I am very curious about that, who knows if I can work there myself one day.
But I have to go

3:22 PM
@JacobAkkerboom What do you mean? you have to go where?
@JacobAkkerboom Are you also a graduate student?

3:54 PM
@xslittlegrass yes (I think), to be precise/clear/not-wrong I am doing a masters programme in mathematics. Earlier I meant I had to go away to do other stuff :)

4:45 PM
how can I output multiple outputs from compile? {a,b,c} as an output does not seem to work

@brama should work as long as {a,b,c} is a full-rank array

a, b, and c are of different ranks

@brama then you can't return it from the VM without a callback into the evaluator

Thanks

Well... you could call a LibraryFunction and return it via MathLink I suppose
Sorry, that should be a Wolfram Library function and return via WolframLink... :-\

5:07 PM
@OleksandrR. I am in a meeting..let me get back to you in some time

@brama okay, let's talk later. I have to go now as well

5:34 PM
@JacobAkkerboom Hi :P

1 hour later…
6:51 PM
@JacobAkkerboom : )

@Kuba hello hello :¬)

@JacobAkkerboom
:)

What's up?
Im programming in Java and am making extremely long variable names <3

@JacobAkkerboom nothing special :p

@Kuba haha yeah, just living the Java dream :)
@Kuba or were you saying what is up with you?
Either way Java => long variable names

7:03 PM
@JacobAkkerboom first though was what's up with me but then I thought it will fit well both :p

:D
Giving ambiguous answers like that should/could be an art :)

@JacobAkkerboom I don't know the definition of art but it is surely appreciated already, isn't it? :0
:)

@Kuba I suppose so :). But I remember me and a friend of mine making very convoluted jokes where some ambiguity lasts as long as possible.. That wasn't really appreciated by anyone except ourselves :P

@JacobAkkerboom That's the crucial thing, it can't be hermetic or ambigious. Convoluted, sure, but logical. :)

7:18 PM
@Kuba maybe I should watch some comedy, I have no inspiration :P

Hehe, such fun. You are better at formatting, so you can have this one ;)

Q: Is It Possible To Replicate Tab Stop Behaviour (or Even PageFooter Behaviour but in Regular Cell)

Mark DI am trying to insert a (text) cell into a notebook that replicates the behaviour of tab stops in MS Word, for example. Put differently, I have two strings and I want the one string to align on the left side of a page and the other string to align on the right side of the page but on the same li...

@JacobAkkerboom thanks :) done, but I don't know if it fits OP needs.

@Kuba well, it's a good try :) +1

Q: How to avoid malicious code when opening & executing notebooks

zentientIs there any way to avoid malicious code when opening and executing entire notebooks automatically? I have written code which opens a large series of notebooks one-by-one, evaluates them in their entirety and saves them as a new notebook. I don't believe the Mathematica code which I use to do th...

I would close as duplicate, but to close as duplicate of my own question is... I don't know :)

@JacobAkkerboom I vote on my duplicates all the time ;P

Meanwhile my Java code is in a utterly broken state, halfway through a reform, with no documentation explaining what I was doing.. Nice time to stop coding? :P
Ok, voting then

@JacobAkkerboom Moreover, how if not you know well if it is a duplicate? :)

@Kuba not sure :P :)
@Kuba I'm going to go offline I think. Hopefully I will sleep better then :)

7:59 PM
@JacobAkkerboomHve a good night then :)

@Kuba you too :)
cu

@JacobAkkerboom Thank you and cya
