@rm-rf I'm sorry about disappearing, it's a hectic day ... I just don't have time to do a proper solution today. Please don't spend your time on it either. I do have a good solution in my mind, but it just takes too much time to work out ... I'm probably going to work it out and post it eventually.

I hope J.M. survived Haiyan.

@SjoerdC.deVries J.M is from Phillipines?

Hello! I am trying to express 10^-3 in shorter format, any way for it?
(1E-3 not working)

@Rojo Yes, that was my understanding
@hhh That would be 1*^3 in Mathematica, but I would advice against using it, as I find 10^-3 much clearer, and it only cost an extra character

hhh
@SjoerdC.deVries Agree, readability number 1 priority.

Of course E isnot working as it is the base of the natural log

hhh
It is just nasty to write this with 10^N...

P = {{4.58 E - 03,
1.83 E - 02}, {4.58 E - 03, 1.83 E - 02}, {7 E - 05,
6.30 E - 04}, };

(far more terms there where E is wrong but means scientific notation)

@hhh If you like E so much why not just define a custom function e so that aEb == e[a,b] ? Readability is about the same.
(And in this case E is not E in MMA but E as you want it to be.)

StackExchange should add Mathic to its editor. That would be too awesome, especially as Mathic grows.

@belisarius what's up with this comment? xD

@Sosi The OP results are compatible with paranormal activity. I just tried to guide him to explore more

Applications are now open for the 2014 Wolfram Science Summer School, the twelfth year it’s been held. Over my six years of participation in the school (as Event Director, student, and instructor), I’ve met a lot of people from all over the world, seen a lot of interesting projects (many of which turned into theses, [...]

Q: Optimization with Matrix value constraint

noviceI am trying to find the orientation and position of a planar surface resting on a curved surface under gravity. The curved surface is defined by a 2D Matrix: Tdata. The problem can be formulated to a constrained Optimization problem. The plane can be described by five points: ConVer = {{l/2, w...

Hey guys, could someone tell me how Mma computes the Confidence Intervals of a NonlinearModelFit? My doubt is about the standard error, how does it compute it? And I am assuming the best fit result parameter then corresponds to the mean?

Ok, I'm guessing this is one of the very simple questions...
