Hi everyone. Just a question (well that I don't want to put in the Q&A itself). This money.stackexchange.com/questions/46936/mortgage-or-not has brought me to ask myself, is it really common to give a 200k$ mortage to somebody almost 60y old? Even if the income is 100+k per year? At the suggested 10k/y savings this means more than ten years of repayment and therefore quite high a risk.

In the united states if you have the income to afford it and the scores to quaify, then they can't discriminate based on your age. They have to include pensions and social security in the income calculation.
